What does it mean when you hear a wolf howl? In some Native American cultures, hearing a wolf howl is seen as a sign of impending change or transformation, and may even be considered a message from a spirit guide. In some European folklore, seeing a wolf is also seen as a bad omen. https://lnkd.in/dQqhQYvw. The Wolf Symbolism The Wolf represents loyalty, family, communication, wisdom, teaching, and intelligence. In nature, Wolves are pack animals with excellent communication and body language skills needed for hunting and protection. https://lnkd.in/d4SsgRg5. Wolves howl to communicate their location to other pack members and to ward off rivaling packs from their territory. It's also been found that wolves will howl to their own pack members out of affection, as opposed to anxiety. Wolf packs tend to claim large territories for themselves, especially if prey is scarce.

Arthur (caterpillar) and Mavis (fairy) were sauntering through the hillside forest. It looked more remote than it had on earlier jaunts (walks). Can’t see the wood / forest for the trees – too focused on something little, missing the important aspects of something bigger. Beat about the bush – choosing to talk around the topic more than the subject itself. Nip something in the bud – to stop before it gets too big. Barking up the wrong tree – getting the wrong end of the stick – misunderstood. Cut out dead wood – remove something / someone who isn’t useful anymore. We have to do something... Let's just ***** *******. I think you have a problem, ***** ********. Let's get rid of *********** ********. They`re of no use to us now. I'm sorry, ******** ***** after all that commotion. Don't *********** ******, say you're going! Knock on wood – include a good luck omen by tapping wood to avoid unforeseen bad. #zoefurniss #englishlearning #englishathome #oxinity #fluentbe (facebook.com)

Today I'm presenting the first episode of a documentary series called "Wild Tales". Wild Tales is a self-produced documentary series about nature. Each episode covers a different topic or subject, including animal species, conservation projects, photography or even the work of individuals that have dedicated their lives to preserve nature. This first episode is about the Iberian wolf, where nature photographer João Ferreira talks about his incredible work and about the wolf, the species he has been working with for the last few years. . If you liked it, please share, so more people can learn more about this beautiful species. . Ep.1 - THE CALL OF THE WOLF The elusive Iberian wolf is an endemic subspecies of the Iberian Peninsula, which has persisted in the Portuguese landscape during thousands of years of intense human occupation. Once occupied the entire length of Portugal, but nowadays it’s only present in some parts of the north and it is classified with the conservation status “Endangered”. The wolf has always been an animal that arouses contradictory feelings in humans. But, is the wolf as dangerous as the children's tales would have us believe? In this episode, João Ferreira, a Portuguese nature photographer from Braga, who has dedicated himself to photographing the Iberian wolf, affirms that this big carnivore is not a dangerous species and he will tell everything he knows about this beautiful subspecies. https://lnkd.in/gPhEYBxm

#TuesdayChooseday Choosing a Different Perspective (from my journal) There is an often told story of a group of blind men who encounter an elephant for the first time. Each one of them approaches the elephant from a different place and seeks to learn about this new creature by touching the part of the animal he encounters. The man who has grabbed of the tail claims that this animal is like a rope. The one who has ahold of a leg claims that it is like a big column. The one grasping the ear claims that it is thin and flappy. The one feeling the hard point of a tusk thinks it is pointy and sharp, and the one who is holding the trunk thinks it is like a hose. Each one is correct about what he is experiencing of the elephant from his perspective, but each version is also incomplete because each person is experiencing only a small part of what an elephant is. As humans, this is true about the story we choose to tell ourselves about the things that happen to us in life. Every situation can be seen from any number of different perspectives, and the perspective we choose dictates the story we tell and the way we experience our circumstances.
