School-based health centers (SBHCs) are health care facilities located inside a school or on school grounds. They often serve students whose access to health care is limited and are an important component of Colorado’s health care safety net. When we consider why we have such a shortage in health workforce programming that connects education and workforce, it isn't that the State of California isn't funding programs to help. They are. The issue is that when they put out the RFPs for organizations to apply to secure this funding, they limit the applicant pool to government organizations only. Why does that matter? That excludes community-based organizations like the Inland Health Professions Consortium, thereby eliminating hundreds of organizations partnered within those CBOs, like schools, hospitals, colleges, and businesses within the communities the state is trying to serve. There needs to be a change to the rules governing the way this funding is supplied. #HealthWorkforce #CaliforniaHealth #CommunityPartnerships
