𝐌𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 Recently, I achieved a significant milestone by obtaining my first degree in Marine Biology(First Class Honors), a professional accomplishment I am incredibly proud of. This journey not only marked the culmination of years of academic dedication but also solidified my passion for understanding and preserving marine ecosystems. This achievement is more than a certificate—it represents my commitment to addressing pressing environmental challenges, particularly those affecting aquatic environments and coastal communities. It also aligns with my broader vision of promoting sustainability and empowering others to be stewards of the environment. It came with uncountable lessons, but I'll love to share a few: ✅ The Value of Resilience The rigorous coursework, fieldwork, and research projects demanded perseverance and resilience. I learned that challenges are opportunities to grow, and determination is key to success. ✅ Interconnectedness of Systems Studying marine ecosystems taught me that everything in nature is interconnected. This realization has shaped my understanding of how human actions impact the environment and the urgent need for sustainable solutions. ✅ Collaboration and Teamwork Many projects required teamwork, teaching me the importance of collaboration in solving complex problems. I realized that working together can yield innovative and impactful results. ✅ The Importance of Lifelong Learning Marine biology is a dynamic field, constantly evolving with new discoveries. This has inspired me to remain curious and committed to continuous learning as I advance my career. ✅ Advocacy and Responsibility My studies emphasized the critical role individuals and communities play in environmental conservation. This lesson has fueled my drive to raise awareness and advocate for sustainable practices, particularly in vulnerable communities like Ilaje and Makoko This degree is a stepping stone toward achieving my goal of becoming an environmental consultant and contributing to impactful solutions for global environmental challenges. It has also enriched my ability to empower young people through coaching, helping them recognize their potential to drive positive change in their communities. My journey in Marine Biology has taught me that passion combined with purpose can create transformative opportunities. This achievement has inspired me to keep striving for excellence in all I do. #21dayschallengewithtgc The Growth Circle

Congrats 🎊 to our second cohort of #CGIAR scientists and #NARES partners who completed the #SystematicReview Training Workshop on Thursday last week, the 12th of September! From distinguishing between systematic reviews and maps to becoming familiar with common methodologies that review teams use – the 28 participants from 12+ countries are walking away with skills that will strengthen their #ClimateChange and #FoodSecurity research efforts. Many thanks to Jacqui Eales & Neal Haddaway for leading the productive sessions. To wrap up the training, the trainers covered: 📈Data Extraction and Coding: Extracting data from studies, describing the coding of studies used in systematic mapping, planning and undertaking basic coding and meta-data extraction. 📋Critical Appraisal: Weighing evidence according to its reliability, discussing approaches to critical appraisal, and a practical session on in issues related to critical appraisal and the level of detail required for the process. 📊Visualizations: Identifying common ways to visualize systematic reviews and map results. 📈Narrative, Quantitative, and Qualitative methods: Understanding the main principles of synthesizing study findings and the difference between aggregative & configurative synthetic methods. 📃Writing and Publishing the Final Report: Meeting requirements of major organizations and publishers and the process by which systematic reviews are peer-reviewed and published. 📱Communicating Results: Communication results of reviews, engaging stakeholders, and producing tailored media to describe results. We applied an anonymous survey and got great feedback from the participants! Here are a few; “The topics we covered, especially on how to apply rigorous techniques like the tools for assessing risk of bias, were incredibly useful. Understanding how to ensure study quality and avoid bias is something that will definitely help me improve my future work. I’m really grateful for everything I’ve learned and being able to apply it moving forward.” “This course was most informative to me! I've learned so much and look forward to applying it.” “I'm so happy to report that the training structure, clarity, and structure were all excellent. The shared material and the possibility of interaction were also great. The concepts were clear and it was important to start there, which I think was a great idea.” We are also excited to welcome cohort 3 later today. #Research International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT),Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Mekelle University INIA - Instituto Nacional de Innovacion Agraria , Africa Centre for Sustainable and Inclusive Development
