✨Starting January 1, 2025, I look forward to serving Arizona on various realms as a continued advocate. Advocacy in politics plays a crucial role in addressing the intersection of notary laws, elderly abuse, homelessness, and human rights, highlighting the need for comprehensive reforms to protect vulnerable populations. Notary laws, for example, must be strengthened to prevent exploitation in the signing of documents, particularly in cases involving elderly individuals who may be at risk of financial abuse or manipulation. Elder abuse, whether physical, emotional, or financial, demands urgent attention through stricter legal frameworks, better oversight, and accessible support systems. Additionally, homelessness is a systemic issue that requires coordinated efforts across political, social, and economic sectors to ensure that affordable housing, healthcare, and legal protections are available to those in need. By championing these causes within the political sphere, advocates can push for policies that safeguard human rights, uphold dignity, and promote justice for the most marginalized groups in society. ⭐🙏🏽

Why I’m Running as a Write-In Candidate: Restoring Integrity to Our Politics In 2022, I ran as a Republican candidate, dedicating countless hours to walking my entire district by myself. Despite my commitment, the Republican party excluded me from promotional materials aimed at advancing our candidates. This exclusion reveals a stark truth: the Republican party lacks the moral courage and integrity to stand up for what is right, mirroring the same issues within the Democratic party. A Broken System: Both Parties Lack Moral Compass The Democrats claim low voter turnout, and despite Meg Froelich losing 12% of her votes without campaigning, she was declared the winner. Both parties have shown a lack of commitment to genuine democratic values and moral integrity. The Republican nominee for this year won at a caucus of merely 21 people with only 14 votes. I secured 32% of the vote last election year—nearly 30% of her current vote count—yet I’m expected to step aside for a candidate who barely campaigned. Standing Up for Our Values and Liberties As a paralegal and mediator, I am deeply troubled by this degradation of our political system. The current trajectory of both major parties threatens our country, our way of life, and our liberties. Are we going to stand by and watch as Colorado succumbs to a totalitarian regime without a fight? Join Me in Restoring Our State I am running as a write-in candidate because I believe we need leaders with integrity and the courage to fight for what is right. I need your support to challenge the status quo and restore moral courage to our political landscape. How You Can Help 1. Donate $200 Today: Contribute $200 to my campaign and receive two books authored by me as a token of appreciation for your support. 2. Sign Up for Emails: Join my email list to stay updated on our campaign efforts and learn how you can get involved. Together, we can make a difference. In loving memory… 🇺🇸 Memorial Day brings with it an opportunity to reflect on the concepts of mortality, remembrance, and legacy. What is a legacy, really? “Legacy” is often misunderstood and so is estate planning. Legacy and estate planning are often perceived as “only for the wealthy” and/or “philanthropic”. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Today is National Sorry Day. This is a day to reflect on the injustice and violence inflicted on First Nations people that were forcibly removed from their families and communities, known as the Stolen Generation. Sadly, First Nations children and young people are still being removed and separated from their families and placed into out-of-home care systems. We strongly advocate for solutions that enable young First Nations people to stay connected to their families, communities and culture, including kinship care programs and other supports to families to enable them to remain connected. 23 years after the release of the Bringing Them Home report, and 12 years since the National Apology to the Stolen Generations, the rates of forcible removal of Aboriginal children continue to rise. Instead of removing young people from their families, there must be investment into other support measures that reduce out-of-home care placements; and enable prevention and early intervention from the challenges faced by families so they can thrive, together. @snaicc’s 2023 “Family Matters Report” found that: - 22,328 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are currently in out-of-home care. - First Nations children are 10.5 times more likely to be living in out-of-home care than non-Indigenous children. - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children represent 42.8% of the total number of children in out-of-home care but only represent 5.98% of all children in Australia. - First Nations children are 10.5 times more likely to be living in out-of-home care than non-Indigenous children. - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children represent 42.8% of the total number of children in out-of-home care but only represent 5.98% of all children in Australia. We’re sorry for the ongoing pain and harm experienced by the Stolen Generation and their families, and for the unjust negative impacts that continue to be felt by First Nations people who are let down by systems that don’t adequately support their needs or enable their agency and self determination.

#SexualAbuse, Power, Protection: When Rescue Comes Too Late From R. Kelly, whose #daughter, Buku Abi, recently spoke out publicly for the first time about the alleged abuse she suffered during her #childhood at the hands of her #father to Father Brendan Smyth, Jeffrey Epstein, Jerry Sandusky, Larry Nassar, Marc Dutroux, Richard Huckle, Jimmy Savile, Mary Kay Letourneau, and Vanessa George, all (except Jimmy Savile) convicted, in #courts of competent jurisdiction for sexually abusing #children, it is clear there seem to be no safe spaces and persons for our precious #children. From #clergy in cassocks to coaches in jerseys, powerful elites to top musicians and educators, medical practitioners under the #Hippocratic oath to media moguls, including those specializing in children’s entertainment, political powerholders and their cronies, and family heads to community leaders across gender spectrums, particularly in societies that claim to be bastions of civilization, the #sexualexploitation of children has permeated every level of society today. For the precious #children abused by these individuals, though their conviction may serve as a deterrent to others, society came too late. Why? These children carry the heavy cross and burden of #abuse for a lifetime. I experienced #childhood abuse and I know that the impact is eternal, except there is divine intervention and even that requires the consistent cooperation of the affected person. Do you know why it is so tough to undo the impact of childhood abuse just like that? It is completely contrary to God’s design for humanity. #Abuse strikes at the formative stage of life, when God enjoined, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." This is why we must commit to prevention in accordance with our mantra, Enlightenment is Superior to Enforcement® The critical lesson is that #ChildSafeguarding and #Protection cannot depend solely on authority figures, regardless of their reputation or society’s claims to civilization. A trusted adult in #ChildSafeguarding is one who willingly submits or is placed under the authority of a well-structured #ChildSafeguarding and #Protection system. This system should be codified into #policies or #familyconstitutions, with clear implementation processes in which all stakeholders, including #children, are trained. Regular reviews are necessary to keep the system adaptive to human development's evolving nature. Establishing this system as a #cultural #norm defines true civilization in the 21st century, embedding safeguarding as a societal priority rather than relying on individuals alone. In Chapter 7 of my book, ‘The Burden and Wisdom of Parenting, I presented a full manifesto on how to prevent #ChildSexualAbuse through Child Safeguarding and Protection System, which include the complete #curriculum of ‘Every Part of My Body is Private to Me® & how to teach it at the family and child-focused organizations level.

'Desistance' - a word widely used within the Criminal Justice System. Are you interested in finding out whether, and if so, how desistance thinking applies to the children and young people who we work with in the YJS? On 19th September, there will be a hybrid event to mark the publication of Desistance and Children: Critical Reflections from Theory, Research and Practice, a new book edited by NAYJ Trustees Ali Wigzell, Claire Paterson-Young and Tim Bateman. The book brings together contributors from academia, policy and practice to consider whether and, if so, how ‘desistance’ thinking – a body of knowledge about how people move away from offending – applies to justice-involved children. Desistance thinking has been transplanted from adult criminal justice to the youth justice system in recent years, with little debate about whether it is relevant to the lives of under-18s. This book is the first to consider and critique its application with children. Event details: 📕 The book will be launched at a hybrid event from 12.00 – 13.30 on Thursday 19 September 2024 at Garden Court Chambers in London. 📕 There will be short talks from the editors and several chapter authors. 📕 The event is free to attend and will include a sandwich lunch. 📕 If you reserve an in-person place and find that you cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible. Spaces are limited and last-minute cancellations cost our small charity! 📕 If you have any additional queries about the event, please email Ali at akc36@cam.ac.uk See below for more details - https://lnkd.in/e-VQ6Xve #desistance #youthjustice #children #theory #reflections

This tragedy of non-compliant parents who fail to contribute to their child or children’s support is common. I experienced it as a single parent working full time in low paid work (many many years ago) and have known many women over the years who face this double burden. They fight for their children’s rights while supporting their children’s living and educational arrangements, all the while working full time or part time or on a pension. The systems are broken or able to be manipulated or dodged - one case I know of: the man left his wife, four kids and a job to became a student; others hide their income or minimise it. In other cases, single mothers are left with no support from the abusive parent while they spend additional money on lawyers and getting injunctional relief. Personal morality (parents responsibility towards their children) and human decency play a huge part here. However this is financial abuse and long lasting coercive control. It is yet another manifestation of Domestic Violence. And in a few cases of long lasting Dowry Abuse and allied punishment involving Family and Domestic violence. When will justice and social services systems intersect and examine these cases from multi-factorial lens? I guess they say its too hard and wash their hands of them. Trigger Warning ⚠️ Unmarked gravesite Imagine your people searching for their children in government-created schools, only to realize they won’t come home. The government then funds a program to help find them, but caps the funding from $3 million to $500,000. What an insult. "Opaskwayak Cree Nation says it's found evidence of unmarked burials on the grounds of a former residential school in northern Manitoba. A three-day search using K9 human remains detection dogs has indicated six areas of interest at the former site of the McKay residential school in Fisher Island, about 10 kilometres north from Opaskwayak and 11 from The Pas. OCN said in a release Friday the areas may hold multiple burials which were left undocumented. The finding comes more than three years after the community began preparations for the search, with efforts coming to a halt because of the COVID-19 pandemic. For Coun. Edwin Jebb, who has been on working on the search since the beginning, it was an emotional few days. "It did affect me when I'd seen the dogs at work," he said. "Running around sniffing, and suddenly they got excited, and they started barking: I knew they'd found something. That'sThat's when it really hit me." The McKay residential school — sometimes spelled MacKay — operated on Fisher Island from 1914 until 1933, when a fire destroyed it. It was rebuilt in Dauphin more than two decades later, where it remained open until 1969." CBC It’s unbelievable what advocacy can do when we unite. As we remember our history, we must never let those in power use our pain for political gain. I wonder if Trudeau lifted the capp because it’s an election year? Food for thought! Another First Nation has uncovered unmark graves by a residential school. How many schools have burial grounds next to the playgrounds? Prayers to all Indigenous peoples and communities affected by residential schools in Canada and the USA. 🧡 Video credit TikTok @mhsector #IndigenousRights #ResidentialSchools #UnmarkedGraves #JusticeForIndigenousChildren #TruthAndReconciliation #SystemicInjustice #IndigenousSurvivors #CulturalGenocide #Canada #FederalGovernment #Advocacy #IndigenousLeadership #IndigenousSovereignty

The Children's Comissioner's report on 'Children's involvement in the 2024 riots' has got me thinking many things. As we had riots in Middlesbrough and Hartlepool I think we need to sit up and pay attention to the findings. The children involved need to take responsibility and we need to take responsibility and action to change the state of things around them. The report states that the young people would tell the government - 'To help children the government should end poverty, create more fun activities and job opportunities’ I have been banging the drum about creating more fun activities in this area for a long time - science and research tells us young people will be involved in risk-taking behaviour due to the brain changes they are experiencing - what fun 'risky' play could we incorporate into our regeneration and planning & design to mitigate the chances of young people becoming involved in criminality? There is a lot of focus on job creation but not so much on ending poverty or increasing the fun. Other takeaways I have lots of thoughts about - the need for a national ACES strategy with a local implementation plan, a national early identification and support plan strategy for neurodivergence again with a local implementation plan, a child/family centred approach to all systems in this case policing and the justice system.... but one step at a time ey? Have a read and see what you think -
