In 2019, elevator constructors from IUEC Local 1 completed a modernization project on one of the world's most iconic skyscrapers, the Empire State Building in New York City, upgrading the building's 73 elevators to improve their efficiency by 50-75%. With four million riders per year, a project of this size, scope, and importance requires a top-tier team of mechanics. It’s World Skyscraper Day! Here’s the tallest skyscraper under construction in Central London. ❤️ Today is World Skyscraper Day. A day that pays tribute to the breathtaking structures that transform cities. In the photo taken today is Opus (left of photo) a 50 storey skyscraper under construction at the Bankside Yards development next to the Thames. This “riverside masterpiece will command unparalleled views over London” and is the tallest skyscraper under construction in Central London. Multiplex are the main contractor for the 250 apartment tower with completion due in 2026 On the right of the photo is the One Blackfriars skyscraper.
