Choice People conversation with: Lisa Even, Have Good Ripple Effect.
We were connected through one of our recent Mastermind Cohort participants, due to a shared interest in public speaking and global engagement. But since our preliminary conversation in August, we have found multiple other intersections, including passion for team development and empowering others to intentionally design their life.
She has been an amazing ally as I have been gathering insights from my East Africa tour and determining next steps. She has also unpacked some negative work experiences that have been holding her back from her full potential. It has been a mutually beneficial partnership - with a good mix of brains AND heart.
Her reflections helped me realize how many of us have an experience in our careers that led us to doubt ourselves, whether it was a crunchy piece of feedback, a difficult relationship with a colleague, or an unexpected termination. These may linger in our psyches and hold us back at other points in our journey. But it's healing to speak about these to trusted others, who can help us challenge any outdated narratives and liberate ourselves from perceived limitations.
Lisa has been so helpful with identifying short-term actions to build trust with potential partners from our EA tour, while also building a longer range vision for deeper impact. She gave insights from her time as a project manager in healthcare.
By the end, we appreciated that both of us are taking life one step at a time, doing what we feel called to do. Rumi's timeless wisdom: “As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.” And who knows the ripple effects this can potentially have.
