The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) has released its 27th annual State of the Satellite Industry Report (SSIR), a global summary of the commercial satellite industry. During 2023, the industry continued to grow at an unprecedented rate. For a sixth consecutive year, the commercial satellite industry launched a record number of commercial satellites into orbit. A total of 2,781 commercial satellites were deployed during 2023, an increase of 20 percent compared to the previous year, while the space industry once again conducted the most launches (190) in history. By the end of 2023, a total of 9,691 active satellites circled the earth, an increase of 361 percent over the past five years.

#China #PLA #SpaceDream #AerospaceForce LM-2D launched 6 Jilin-1 satellites into space today. 宽幅02B01至06星 kuanfu02B satellites can see width of 150 km with 0.5 m resolution Kuanfu 02 to 06 is China's new generation coverage satellite by ChangGuang. They are the first ultra-sideband and high resolution remote sensing satellites Now, 114 satellites are in orbit, which will allow 37 to 39 revisit to any location in the world every day. Ability to fully cover world 6 times a year. From this 2022 article. “吉林一号”卫星星座新目标:具备24小时覆盖全球能力 It said they were planning to get 140 satellites in the air by end of last year for revisit every 10 minutes. Looks like they have not achieved this yet. The goal once they have 300 in the air is for full global coverage once a day.

YASDE! (Yet Another Space Debris Event) This was...unfortunately....somewhat expected. It appears that we now have ***three PRC launches in a row*** with a CZ-6A (Long March 6A) rocket producing #SpaceDebris. On 06 Aug 2024 06:42 UTC China launched a CZ-6A into LEO out of Taiyuan. Some 36 hours later there are reports of #SpaceDebris, with Slingshot Aerospace providing the first notification I've seen. See also their post on X from 07 Aug 2024, 18:13 UTC: https://lnkd.in/g4-KMaVd The rocket body and associated payloads have not yet been cataloged and made public by U.S. Space Command. Many groups are awaiting public information on the rocket body object state (e.g., TLE) in order for more tasking (s2a systems). The rocket body will likely receive international designator 2024-138A upon cataloging by 18 SDS, with a TBD catalog number assignment. Updates to come (to include analysis independent of the #SpaceDebris as this is the first PRC "G60 Starlink" launch). #SpaceSustainability #SpaceTrafficCoordination #SpaceDomainAwareness #SpaceSituationalAwareness
🚨 Slingshot Orbital Alert 🚨 (Post 1/2) Slingshot is actively tracking 50+ objects associated with a space-debris-generating event following China’s launch of 18 G60 satellites on August 6th for its Thousand Sails mega constellation. We will continue to monitor and provide additional updates on this space event as we analyze data collected by the Slingshot Global Sensor Network.

The satellites launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California to a sun-synchronous orbit August 16th at 2:20 PM EDT. Adding these three satellites will enhance the company's robust constellation, increasing the total to 32 satellites and significantly augmenting global RF monitoring capabilities. Cluster 10 will reinforce HawkEye 360's capacity for frequent revisits to areas of strategic interest globally. Once on orbit, these satellites will enhance HawkEye 360's collection capabilities, providing more comprehensive coverage and timely data across vital regions. Cluster 10 will continue to advance HawkEye 360’s mission of delivering precise and actionable RF insights, ensuring greater coverage and enhanced monitoring capabilities.

𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵. 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲. When satellites are sent into space, there’s no second chance. A faulty antenna could leave a multi-million-dollar spacecraft stranded in orbit, unable to deliver the connectivity it was designed for. The key to success: Antenna testing. For projects with plans for a vast constellation of satellites working in harmony, testing antennas is more than important. With precise measurement systems and advanced testing protocols, engineers can identify and resolve issues long before satellites leave the ground, safeguarding each satellite and its mission. Read about a case in point: https://lnkd.in/ehhEZJ93 MVG state-of-the-art test solutions provide the tools needed to validate antenna designs, helping teams deploy satellites with full confidence. Satellite platforms play a crucial role in the successful operation of satellites in space. A satellite platform is the structural and functional base that houses and supports the payloads, communication systems, and other essential components of a satellite. These platforms are designed to ensure that the satellite can operate effectively in orbit while providing support for various mission objectives. See more->https://lnkd.in/guRFdykc
