Mowi depends on a healthy ocean, and the presence of plastic and its fragmentation into microplastics in the marine ecosystem must be avoided. We avoid the unnecessary use of plastics in our operations and ensure that plastic waste is handled responsibly. We have a well-established monitoring and control programme for undesirable substances, such as microplastics, to ensure we supply healthy and sustainable seafood. Since implementing the programme, our monitoring results indicate that there are no plastic-related contaminants in our salmon. Overcoming the plastic waste challenge remains a crucial issue for our business, and as such, we focus on avoiding any plastic litter ending up at sea as a result of our farming activities, implement alternative packaging solutions, and continue to monitor the potential for microplastics and plastic-related contaminants in our fish.
