A little less than 2 years ago a store manager on my team lost her battle to cancer. Jenn was a ray of sunshine to all those who knew her. ☀️ Yesterday I was doing an interview for a different district team. During the interview it came out that this candidate many years ago was hired by Jenn. She shared how way back then as she applied for a seasonal sales associate Jenn made her feel so special. The candidate shared how Jenn as her leader said words like “I see something special in you” “you have so much potential” those words made a lasting impression on her. This candidate said how she thought of those words and how Jenn made her feel. Hoping Jenn would be proud as she is now years later interviewing for a Store Manager position. This was such a beautiful moment and I was so grateful that this candidate shared this with me. This moment has made me pause and reflect on how….every day we are leaving our legacy with those we lead and interact with. 💙 There is power in how we use our words. 💙 There is power in how we invest in people. 💙 There is power in being kind. 💙 There is also power in how clear we are as we coach people to reach their potential 💗We have a opportunity every day to make a difference in someone’s life. I know personally this was a reminder to not waste a single opportunity to smile and make someone’s day. #ginghamnation #oneteam #leader #leadership #empower #kindness #legacy #retail

Celebrating a Meaningful Promotion How many times have you been promoted at your workplace? Many people can’t wait for a promotion and end up seeking new jobs with higher positions. There’s nothing wrong with either approach. Personally, I’ve been promoted three times throughout my career. However, this time is different—it’s the first time I’m recommending my assistant for a promotion. In my situation, it’s not as straightforward because I don’t have a Head of Department (HOD) and must report directly to the Managing Director (MD). If there were a HOD, approvals would typically be simpler, but without one, this promotion—though junior—still requires final approval from the MD. That’s why I told my assistant her promotion is especially meaningful: it’s personally approved by the company’s MD. I’ve always believed that good employees deserve recognition and rewards, especially when they’re in junior positions—this kind of appreciation can really motivate them. To celebrate, we went out for a lunch as soon as her promotion was officially approved. Here’s to aiming even higher and achieving more together this year! Congratulations, Karen Yong Bee En! #CareerMilestones #Leadership #Motivation #LinkedinCommunity

After making a challenging career change from Restaurant Management to IT about 2 and a half years ago, I faced numerous obstacles and setbacks. Despite the difficulties, I persevered, dedicating myself to learning and adapting to this new field. After applying for countless job opportunities, I secured a position at the City of Lewisville. Under their exceptional leadership, I acquired essential skills that not only shaped my career but also enriched my life with valuable lessons. Transitioning to another company filled me with excitement due to its promising potential. However, my tenure was brief as the manager, after just 8 days, determined that I didn't align with the company's "culture". Moving forward, I found a new role in a company that I deeply appreciate, with a culture and leadership that motivates me to strive for greater achievements and aspirations. This journey taught me the importance of perseverance and resilience. I believe that with dedication and effort, anyone can overcome obstacles and secure the job they desire. To hiring managers, I encourage taking chances – being underqualified or lacking experience does not equate to lacking value.

Speaking with a peer, she lamented her company no longer has a General Manager position. She's now stuck. She has no forward opportunity, unless a DM role opens. She can't move to another company as a GM, because she doesn't have multi-unit experience. The loss of GM and Area Manager roles are capping growth and going to cost companies talent.

Day 9... On Day 9 of the 12 Days of Christmas, I want to reflect on what truly drives me—building meaningful, long-term relationships with my clients. For me, it’s not just about filling positions; it’s about becoming a trusted partner they can rely on for insight, support, and guidance in all things talent and hiring. One of the moments that stands out the most for me was when a client called me in a panic, needing to fill a key leadership position with a very tight deadline. They trusted me to not only find the right fit quickly but to also ensure the candidate would align with their company culture. After working closely with them to understand the unique needs of the role and the team, we found the perfect candidate. The best part? A few months later, they referred me to their other locations because they were so impressed with the results. To me, this is what it’s all about—the trust they placed in me to support their business growth, not just for one role, but across the board. As I step into the new year and my new role, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue strengthening these relationships. It’s a true privilege to help clients build strong teams and achieve success, and I can’t wait to see where these partnerships take us in the future. Here’s to more success and continued growth in the year ahead! #SRGStillwater #ClientSuccess #TrustedPartner #HiringSolutions #BuildingRelationships #BusinessGrowth #12DaysOfChristmas

Awkward…Why is my teenage retail job still on my LinkedIn? When you scroll through my LinkedIn profile, you might notice something unexpected for a 42-year-old senior brand and creative leader: my retail job at the Concord, CA REI when I was 18 and 19 years old. Here’s why I keep it there (and why I still have my name tag, as you can see): REI was the first place I fell in love with steep learning curves, brand culture, and professional mentorship. It wasn’t just selling gear—it was about being part of a purpose-driven company. A place we could nerd out in preparation for a spicy adventure, promoting stewardship of the outdoors, and create a community. That early experience taught me that the best brands are not just products or services, but experiences and partners. Even now, decades later, it influences how I approach brand strategy and creative leadership. So yeah, my teenage retail job is still on my LinkedIn—not just as a fun nod to where I started, but because I still care about modern consumer behavior. I still seek adventure (both professionally and otherwise). And I still love a nice, steep learning curve. What’s an early job that still impacts how you work or think about your career today?

🔍 Why is it always about the title? It’s fascinating how much weight we place on job titles in the hiring process. You could handle all the responsibilities and possess the qualifications for a role, yet if your title doesn't align, your chances of landing the job can diminish significantly. Why do we fixate on titles? An executive assistant might be performing chief of staff duties, or an operations manager could be fulfilling the same responsibilities without the official title. Let’s shift the focus from labels to capabilities. It's time to recognize the value of experience over title! 💪 #CareerDevelopment #Leadership #ExperienceMatters

Meet Emmett Jessome, Senior Account Executive here at Jobber! 👋 ➡️ Why did you choose to join Jobber? I researched a ton of different companies, and Jobber had the trifecta of green flags for any sales organization: a mission statement I resonated with, a great team culture that extends up through our Senior Leadership team, and, of course, a fantastic product that solves real problems our customers are experiencing. ➡️ How do you focus on your professional development? I have regular one-on-one meetings with my People Leader and seek feedback from other leaders and peers. Our team has Learning Wednesdays, where we all share what we have learned during the week and how we plan to apply it. One of the most enjoyable ways to work on personal growth is by sharing and discussing with others. Ready to make an impact? 👀 Link in the thread to this role: #salescareer #hiringsales

A Henry Ford Story Henry Ford once had to choose between two equally qualified candidates for a senior management role. During a dinner, he noticed one seasoned their meal without tasting it, while the other tasted first. This revealed a tendency to make decisions without gathering all the facts. He chose the candidate who was thoughtful and deliberate, valuing careful judgment over qualifications alone. Whether the story is true or not, the lesson is clear: Thoughtfulness matters. #LeadershipLessons #BusinessWisdom #HenryFord #DecisionMaking #Hiring #Ford #Management
