There is at least one element of the budget that we can hopefully all agree to being a positive... £2.1bn pledged to improve school maintenance. This should provide schools that require new learning spaces the support required. The number of schools with classrooms in a delapidated state is a real concern. The RAAC crisis, along with years of chronic underfunding has meant that some schools are unable to provide safe learning environments for all of their pupils. This extra £300 million for investment in the maintenance of school estates will hopefully enable schools that have been waiting for new teaching spaces to find a solution. Maxi Space can provide that solution. We can support with temporary permanent Modular classrooms and school buildings. If you, or anyone in your network is connected to a school that requires a temporary classroom solution quickly please get in touch. Want to find out more about what we do? Whatever your political alignment, or your thoughts on why private schools should or should not exist, it looks like the losers in whole VAT situation are going to be children. Those who are ripped from their private schools which shut, or can no-longer be afforded, or those who must suddenly accept a further influx of children into a broken and financially crippled system. The state of education and recruitment is the worst it has ever been in my twenty year career. The National Foundation for Educational Research said many schools had “deteriorating” finances, with 13% of local authority schools carrying budget deficits in 2022-23. Meanwhile, the number of families opting out of school altogether in order to homeschool has been increasing. The bigger picture here is very concerning. Things have to change!
Downham Preparatory School in Norfolk and Alton School in Hampshire both blame the threat of VAT on fees for their decisions to close. Your voice matters and Congress needs to hear from you! We need to urge Congress to boost Charter Schools Program (CSP) funding to $500 million next year to meet the growing demand for public school choice, supported by polling that shows that 75% of parents would choose this option if available. An increase in charter school funding will ensure that more parents have the option to do so. Despite its importance, federal funding for charter school growth has remained stagnant for the past five years. Even worse, President Biden’s proposed budget for FY 2025 slashes CSP funding by nearly 10%, endangering charter school progress. Contact your Member of Congress now to safeguard and expand this vital program. National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, Diverse Charter Schools Coalition https://lnkd.in/esnV-Bda

Yesterday, I was quoted in the Parkersburg News and Sentinel saying that the WVU Parkersburg project at the former Ohio Valley University site in the City of Vienna WV will result in a "generational change" for Wood County and let me tell you why 👇 1. The Ross Foundations $10 million donation to the WVUP Foundation started this project but the investment has far exceeded this amount. 2. The Innovation & Technology Center will produce students who can earn high wages in fields related to things like computer science and mechanical engineering, among other bustling industries looking for talent. 3. Anyone remember our 393 page housing assessment that stated we desperately need housing across all sizes and price points? The excess land around the ITC is being planned out by a team of people, including our office, that will open up at least 75 housing parcels for future development. 4. Have you ever driven to the former OVU site? We're working on a new roadway off of 12th in Vienna for another form of ingress and egress to allow easier access into the facility, neighborhood, etc. We're also planning to work on bike and walking paths on this road so everyone can enjoy. 5. The WVUP Foundation has generously agreed to donate land to Wood County Schools for the construction of the new Vienna Elementary School. Do you know who asks about the age and quality of schools? Businesses looking to invest and open a location in Wood County. So. Many. Changes. It's a WIN WIN for everyone. It's taking a campus that closed and turning it into something wonderful and something our kids and grandkids can use for years to come. That's something to celebrate! #developWoodCountyWV https://lnkd.in/g-p8H6a3
