Around nine months ago, Mikołaj Bińkowski and I embarked on a journey to co-found a company with Naeem Talukdar, John T., and Bryn Mooser, with a bold vision: to create not only the best-in-class text-to-video model but also the world’s first large-scale AI model trained on licensed data. This approach ensures that artists receive their fair share from our advancements. The path has been anything but smooth - filled with uncertainties and risks. Yet, thanks to the incredible team that joined us along the way, I am more confident than ever that the possibilities ahead are limitless. Our text-to-video model, named Marey after Étienne-Jules Marey, represents different things to different people. To me, it is the first step toward building visual intelligence - a foundational model capable of understanding the real world and its physical and societal laws. For others, it will serve as a tool to enhance creativity. For some, it will open a door to endless possibilities, enabling the creation of plausible yet entirely imagined worlds with each generation. At this stage, Marey will be available to a selected audience for further testing. But one thing is clear - with Marey, the future of filmmaking is set to transform in extraordinary and beautiful ways. But now it is my turn, I'm excited to start creating my first movie using Marey!
