Today is a great day for cond-mat students: let's welcome Prof. Sandro Scandolo, Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), who joins Enabla with his first lecture exploring the microscopic structure of matter. In this introductory lecture, Sandro discusses the atomic and microscopic foundations of material properties, emphasizing the connections between quantum mechanics, classical mechanics, and real-world applications in materials science and engineering. Watch this #OpenAccess lecture for free and ask your questions online to the Enabla community and Sandro himself, who is happy to explain anything about solid-state physics at https://lnkd.in/dBJ7SXnx #SolidStatePhysics #MaterialsScience #QuantumMechanics

So simple…
”Do whatever turns you on. Whatever you are interested in and get excited about, that is what you should do.” Some advice to all young researchers and students from physicist Michael Kosterlitz. He was awarded the 2016 physics prize for theoretical discoveries of topological phase transitions. #NobelPrize

It was a pleasure to visit my alma mater yesterday, UC Santa Barbara. I gave the physics department colloquium and saw many old professors of mine, including my thesis advisor Mark Srednicki. Thanks go to Dirk Bouwmeester, Clifford Johnson, and David Weld for inviting me. The link to my talk, Quantum Measurement: Theory and Practice, is given below. https://lnkd.in/gQfDWvpE

A pendulum: mass M, length L ... by W. Lewin who inspired many lectures to students in Physics . When speaking to my L1 classroom, a pendulum is the best device for experimental physicists with a very elegant formula including 3 sensors at one by measuring a period: a clock, a gravimeter and a thermometer ;-)

Why, after the APPEAL to the luminaries in physics to present SCIENTIFIC ARGUMENTS against the proofs in the published article in the Journal of Modern and Applied Physics in March this year "The complete set of proofs for the invalidity of the special theory of relativity", all answers and comments with links to the article deleted in Quora Digest?

The Paradoxical Spin: Unveiling the Mystery of the Free-Space Homopolar Motor The Homopolar motor, a deceptively simple device, presents a captivating challenge to our understanding of angular momentum conservation. This essay delved into the seemingly contradictory behavior observed in a free-space Homopolar motor experiment and explored the potential explanations through the lens of mathematics and physics. https://lnkd.in/d-Z2PK6F
