Struggling to Measure Medication Adherence Effectively? Here’s the challenge: traditional methods like pharmacy refill tracking only scratch the surface. That “80% threshold” tells you medication is available, but it doesn’t confirm patients are actually taking it. And that missing 20%? It represents real risks to patient health. Enter the #MMAS: the gold standard in medication adherence measurement. Unlike refill data, the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS) dives deeper. It provides a validated adherence score and goes beyond availability to reveal the why behind missed doses. MMAS uniquely distinguishes between intentional and unintentional non-adherence. Is a patient avoiding medication because of side effects? Or simply forgetting? With MMAS, you don’t just get numbers—you get insights. Even better, MMAS equips providers with follow-up questions for targeted interventional conversations, so you can address each patient’s specific barriers. It’s not just a tool; it’s a catalyst for improving patient outcomes and driving real change in medication adherence. Ready to move past refill data? Let’s talk about implementing MMAS for true adherence insights. #HealthcareInnovation #MedicationAdherence #PatientOutcomes

ADVI Health recently conducted a survey of patients' experiences and specialty medication access with alternative funding programs (AFPs), which was published in the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy (JMCP). The survey consisted of 26 single- and multiple-choice questions to assess patients’ awareness of AFPs from their employers, experience with the patient assistance program application process via the AFP vendor, timeliness of medication access, and the health impact of delays. Responses were analyzed by disease and income level. A greater proportion of patients with hemophilia reported being anxious from waiting for their medication. Patients with lower income levels reported longer wait times. Read the full results of the study: https://lnkd.in/g3EyNaKt
