BHP's iron ore, copper output surge on mine improvements. BHP, the world's largest listed mining company, reported strong performance for the first quarter of FY2025. The company's iron ore production increased by 2% year-over-year, driven by improvements at its Western Australia operations, including the completion of the Port Debottlenecking project and ramp-ups at the South Flank mine. Copper production also rose 4% compared to the same period last year, thanks to higher ore grades and improved recoveries at the Escondida mine in Chile.
