What a great post Midwest Aerospace Casting. I am saving this photo as an example of proper aluminized safety clothing. Aluminized fabric is worn because it reflects 95% of the radiant heat. Radiant heat can affect a worker's heart, lungs, kidneys, liver. As well as workers exposed to radiant heat can become sterile. As I tell workplaces if the radiant heat exposure is from the front of the worker. Then the back panel of the clothing can be secondary. Just like this photo. Meet Gena Montgomery, New Product Development Manager at Thordon Bearings! Gena's journey into engineering began with a summer job at 17 as a Diesel Mechanic in the Royal Canadian Navy. She went on to study Marine Engineering Systems Design and eventually became a CAD designer at Thordon. Her advice to young women considering STEM careers: "Imagination and creativity are common to both crafting and engineering. Be aware of the false dichotomy that our brains are either math-oriented or arts-oriented—never both. Special Workforce Wednesday MEA Edition at Metal Craft in Elk River! Metal Craft and Riverside Machine & Engineering This week, our students had an incredible opportunity to tour Metal Craft, a leading manufacturer in Elk River, and learn about the exciting world of manufacturing!   From gaming, robotics, and detailed machine work, we discovered how passions and skills can turn into high-paying, stable careers. We saw cutting-edge equipment, including medical devices and tools used in surgery (we even saw a bone breaker—yikes!  ). It was eye-opening to see machines worth $750,000 to $1 million performing detailed, high-precision work. With a shortage of workers in manufacturing, there are countless job opportunities just waiting to be filled. Manufacturing is the backbone of our economy, playing a vital role in creating the products we rely on every day—from medical equipment to aerospace and defense technology. Did you know Metal Craft’s sister plant in Wisconsin works on aerospace and defense projects? For students looking to get hands-on experience, Metal Craft offers an internship and youth apprenticeship program.
