North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Stands Up EV Task Force NERC's Reliability and Security Technical Committee (RSTC) has approved the formation of the Electric Vehicle Task Force (EVTF). The EVTF's purpose is to encourage collaboration between electric utilities and representatives from the Electric Vehicles (EVs) automotive industry and builds on earlier work undertaken by the California Mobility Center EV Grid Reliability Working Group, an EV task force established by the CMC in collaboration with EnerTech Capital, North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), WECC and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. The goal of the NERC EVTF is to establish a common language and develop recommended utility interconnection requirements, procedures, and approaches to support the reliability of the Bulk Power System (BPS) in response to the increasing adoption of EVs observed by the ERO Enterprise. The focus of the EVTF is to address integration challenges and develop potential solutions to the engineering challenges posed by the integration of this emerging load type. This group aims to serve as an open stakeholder forum for Electric Vehicles (EVs), Charging Station Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and utilities. The forum will work towards enhancing utility knowledge of modern EV charging technology, improving the modeling of such technology, and establishing a common language to exchange impact and risk information between electric utilities and the automotive industry. Background The EVTF is seeking volunteers to join the team with specific skills, knowledge, and technical expertise in the following areas: · Design of EV charging stations, charging points, or charging algorithms, · Design of EV discharging behavior or algorithms, · Electrical interface design of EVs or EV service equipment, · Utility programs and interconnection studies for EV equipment, · Other interested parties, including entities affected by adoption at-scale of EVs or EV service equipment. Another step forward on new propulsion systems. But they all still have to meet the requirements of 14CFR Part 33 and aspects of 14CFR Parts 23 and 25 depending on which platforms they are installed. Based on vehicle weight and the number of passengers. Again control electronics will be critical. So expect a lot of focus in this area for FAA certification.

Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative offers a 24-hour, Time-of-Use (TOU) #ElectricVehicle charging program through which customers can charge their vehicles whenever needed, and electricity rates fluctuate by the time of day. Recently, the cooperative and other industry stakeholders, including NRECA, Great River Energy, FlexCharging, worked to evaluate the alignment between EV #submetering data and #telematics data to assess the feasibility of telematics as a billing method. This project has produced some great lessons learned and highlighted the need for adaptation. A key lesson learned (in my opinion) is that "things happen." So now what? Once a new vehicle arrives the commissioning phase will be greatly enhanced by the availability of a common digital track centreline. This ensures that data from different measurement systems can be correlated and integrated with asset management systems for fault investigation and repair. Preparing this digital track centreline requires spatial expertise and rail domain knowledge as well efficient processing capabilities to meet project timeframes.
