With the AR6 results out today (I bet you didn't miss that on LinkedIn? 🤣 ) we have made progress to decarbonisation, but there is much more to do. There's an interesting BBC article (https://lnkd.in/e_ErbAxv) in which highlights that we could need as much as 30GW of capacity next CfD Auction (AR6 has secured just uner 10GW) to meet the 2030 target of 60GW in total. I have been working on some further ideas in this area, following the article below - watch this space over the coming weeks and I'll share them.
The UK is making big strides in renewable energy, but energy costs and network issues are slowing down progress. PPAs could be a gamechanger to boost renewable power generation. The challenge? Incentivizing them effectively to meet ambitious energy goals. Hear from Russell Reading, our Head of Decarbonisation and Energy Markets at Zeigo Power, as he shares his insights into how we can facilitate the adoption of PPAs through: 🤝 Building investor confidence 🔋 Promoting accessibility to renewable power for consumers 💡 Simplifying the PPA process Get the scoop on how you could be the key to unlocking a green future for the UK. 🌍⚡️ AYA Energy participated in the Febeliec Energy Forum! ⚡️🌍 Yesterday, Thomas Schmits represented AYA Energy in an engaging panel debate at the Febeliec Energy Forum. He emphasized the crucial role of the Princess Elizabeth Zone (PEZ) in securing long-term offshore wind supply for Belgian industries. The PEZ offers a unique opportunity for industries to lock in sustainable energy through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). As highlighted during the panel, these PPAs provide: ✅ Long-term energy security for buyers ✅ Guaranteed access to offshore wind energy ✅ A solution to help meet the ambitious Net Zero goals However, the PEZ comes with its own challenges: limited volumes, high competition, and the fact that buyers bear most of the risks. This makes early engagement and strategic planning essential for companies looking to secure their energy future. Combining renewable energy with flexibility—such as demand-side management and batteries—will be key to making the most of these opportunities. As Thomas highlighted, exceeding 80% renewable coverage is the long-term goal but comes with significant cost challenges, making flexibility crucial. Let's keep pushing towards a sustainable and competitive energy future! 🌱 #EnergyTransition #SustainableEnergy #OffshoreWind #PrincessElizabethZone #PPA #AYAenergy #FebeliecEnergyForum
