We are 10 days away from Expunge Colorado's 7th annual record sealing clinic! It has been 7 years of putting on a record sealing event in Denver, free to the community, where we literally change people's lives for the better. Expunge Colorado's mission is to enable people to move forward from their criminal records. We do this through our 3 pillars of service: education, advocacy and offering pro bono record sealing services. What's different about this year compared to the other years is for the first time our application for clinic opened and closed within 24 hours. Our capacity was reached in 24 hours! In 72 hours, we had 100+ people on a waitlist to be notified for the next record sealing event in 2025. This proves that our pro bono legal services for petition-based record sealing is at an all-time high. Expunge Colorado provides an essential service to people who are in need of jobs, housing and a chance to move forward with dignity from their past. We cannot do this work without the help of sponsors and donors. If you believe in criminal justice reform, reparative justice, and social equity and are in a position to donate, please consider our local 501c3 nonprofit. The funds will go towards food, supplies and the work that continues weeks after the clinic. We have a crowdsourcing campaign with a goal to reach 5K: https://lnkd.in/gqVw2Zsi I'll leave you with a few testimonials from our Intake application: “This would help me regain dignity in all aspects of my life. I just want to thank all the professionals willing to help us get our lives back!” “I really hope you can help me and i look forward to moving in a brighter future for myself and my family!” “Thank you very much for your assistance in this process. I very much appreciate it, and it will have a dramatic impact on my life.” #ExpungeColorado #criminaljusticereform #secondchances #recordsealing #expungement #Coloradononprofit #nonprofit

It's about public embarrassment. --> It's simple. --> It's human. --> It's emotional. --> It's memorable. --> It's effective. ⏲️ So, you have 10 seconds. Could you do it? 👀 ‼️ HINT: It doesn't have anything to do with your programs. ‼️👀 ------------------- For more quick insights like this, check out my Growing Nonprofit Newsletter: https://lnkd.in/eA73W4Ve

Do you like the Donor’s Choose platform that lets you fund specific teachers’ requests for material help for their classrooms? Then you will likely love this as well. The amazing Gisele Garraway and team have created a platform to help working families with non-cash requests such as gas cards, laptops, or work uniforms. These contributions can help more families find their way to financial sustainability. Yes, we ALSO need more systemic, policy-based solutions. But in the meantime, this is something all of us who are financially secure can do to help. If you have 5 minutes please listen to Gisele’s talk. And then check out the Thrivefunds platform!
If you've got 5 minutes, please take a listen to my recent presentation. I had the privilege of sharing the thrivefunds pitch with the beloved Praxis community in Napa. Onward!

Crafting a 5-Minute Fundraising Video for Chief Seattle Club Last September, I had the privilege of collaborating once again with James Lovell ‘s amazing team at Chief Seattle Club (Vikki Mata, Damon Walkup, Malena Del Rey) on another great project. About Chief Seattle Club: A Seattle-based non-profit organization dedicated to supporting homeless and at-risk Native Americans. They provide a variety of services including housing assistance, healthcare, job training, and cultural programs. Their mission is to create a safe and supportive environment where Native Americans can heal, grow, and thrive. The Challenge: The goal was to create a captivating 5-minute video for their annual fundraiser event. This video needed to resonate with both event attendees and the general public who would watch it online. The challenge was to strike the right balance between informative and emotionally impactful content. My Approach: 1. Soilid script Instead of having interviews and building a story in post-production like last year (https://lnkd.in/ekQMfpQJ), this year we crafted a script to showcase their newly opened Sacred Medicine House and focused on highlighting the stories of the residents, making the video personal and relatable. 2. Engaging Visuals: We shot a variety of B-roll footage, capturing the beauty of the new building and the daily lives of the residents. 3. Flexible Production: Working with non-profit organizations often requires flexibility, as participants may not always be available for filming. We adapted our shooting schedule to accommodate the residents' needs, ensuring a smooth and successful production. And we had a small crew of 3 member, which made it possible for us to be flexible and maneuver around the client’s needs. The Outcome: The final video is a powerful and moving piece that effectively communicates the organization's mission and inspired viewers to support their cause at their fundraiser. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work on such a meaningful project and contribute to the success of Chief Seattle Club! https://lnkd.in/ezkdTx3F If their mission resonates with you, please consider supporting them with a donation: https://lnkd.in/eJeKdvn8 #videoproduction #nonprofit #fundraising #documentary #collaboration #behindthescenes
