Between 2017 and 2019, I worked at DSV - Global Transport and Logistics, handling 🔥 100+ monthly sea freight shipments - from A to Z. That meant juggling CargoWise, Excel, Outlook, pricing tools, and endless shipping paperwork to serve 1 top account—Tesla, with its highly demanding logistics teams worldwide. Blind typing? ✅ Extra skill unlocked But more than anything, it was about communication—planning, execution, and 'live events' (some call them 'exceptions,' but maybe we should just call them 'the everyday exceptions'?) Dock delays, driver hours, port congestions, chassis shortages, container damage, customs, schedule changes, postponed departures, mixed inventory, port/dock cutoffs, detentions, demurrages, accounting updates ... PER SHIPMENT! All of this played out over tens of phone calls and emails with various ocean and inland carriers, shipping facilities, intermediary warehouses - nationwide, and about 8 foreign branches } polished in the daily team meetings. ⚡️We were pulling the already gated containers from Port Oakland and ran them to Houston to catch the vessel to Rotterdam 😁—because the vessel schedule shifted . Those were the days Bridget (Kall ) Tran 🖥️ 🧑🏻💻🖥️ I worked across at least 4 different tech applications per shipment, manually transferring data. 🧮 An average Door-to-Door service quote response took 8 hours to 2 days whenever we opened a new route. Sourcing and sales in freight forwarding is something else. Let’s say there was a Gulliver-sized room for improvement. (If you made it this far, my writing must be getting better.)
