In a recent report by Infrastructure Victoria, Advanced Data Analytics was identified as one of 5 key digital technologies that can best boost productivity in the infrastructure sector by 2030. The report pointed towards the productivity gains that can be realised as well as reductions in unbudgeted construction changes and in maintenance. The report also suggests that the relative costs to invest in and implement Advanced Data Analytics in infrastructure are low compared to other digital technologies. On railway networks productivity improvements are realised when employees and contractors can travel virtually to any location in the rail corridor and take measurements saving time and resources when planning projects, setting up worksites or undertaking maintenance activities. Key to realising these productivity gains is corporate wide access to corridor LiDAR and imagery datasets that are correctly indexed to the rail network.
