What are ways that the sports industry can improve DEl efforts? I think the sports industries can improve DEI efforts is to stop doing surface level efforts and actually get in the trenches. Let me not get on a tangent but a content series highlighting a few DEI individuals or hosting a panel with some that checks a box isn't moving the needle One way that would help is to stop doing unpaid internships. I understand the whole got to get it out the mud and work your way up but there's other ways to do that without offering unpaid internships without a plan to actually hire the interns you had work for you for "experience and exposure". I've seen this happen too many times where someone will be an intern with the hope of being hired only for them to draw it out until they don't have budget. There needs to be real pipelines for everyone to get into the industry. Day 25 of #LinkedInSportsChallenge -- p.s. Reflecting on My Marketing Internship at Octa Agency As I wrap up my internship with Octa Agency, I’m filled with gratitude and excitement for the journey I’ve just completed. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, and I want to share a few highlights and extend my heartfelt thanks. Diverse Learning Opportunities:From developing comprehensive marketing strategies to analyzing campaign performance, I’ve gained hands-on experience in all facets of marketing. Alert: Internship Scams 14-day internship (you can't learn technical things in just 14 days as it is just a sales internship) Performance Stipend (a stipend which you will never receive unless you are increasing the sales of the company) Domains like marketing & finance, marketing & HR simply mean marketing (sales). Interviews that last only for 2 minutes will not give you a good internship. These are some internship red flags you should avoid! I got trapped in one of these internships in my first year out of FOMO, so be safe.
