🔹 Enhancing ICU Patient Care with Above Cuff Vocalization We have made significant strides in managing our patients in the ICU, focusing on humanistic, patient-centered approaches. The implementation of the ABCDEF Bundle, prioritizing early mobility, and keeping patients awake and engaged are all vital strategies that are improving patient outcomes. Above Cuff Vocalization (ACV) plays a crucial role in this evolving landscape for patients with tracheostomy and mechanical ventilation. It empowers patients to express their wants and needs, giving them a voice even while the tracheostomy cuff is inflated. This ability to communicate with loved ones and participate in important care decisions enhances their independence and overall quality of life. Additionally, research indicates that ACV can help reduce secretions and increase swallowing frequency, further benefiting patient care. Tracheostomy tubes, such as the Tracoe Extract, are designed to facilitate ACV and make a meaningful impact on our patients’ lives. I encourage you to join the webinar below to explore more about the benefits of ACV and its role in patient-centered care! Join us on Tuesday, November 12, at 1 PM Eastern Time. Thank you, Nicole De Palma and Tracheostomy Education for inviting me to discuss one of my favorite trach topics!
