Magna International’s Post

Imagine your car seeing clearly in challenging conditions. At #TechADEurope2025, Tobias Aderum, Director of Research & Innovation at Magna, explained how sensor fusion can enhance ADAS. Magna's latest testing included over 500 real-world tests in various weather conditions like darkness, snow, rain, and fog. The solution combines cameras, imaging radar, and thermal sensors early on to leverage their strengths. Key insights: ✅ Multi-modal sensor setups significantly improve object detection in low-visibility conditions. ✅ Early fusion reduces false positives in pedestrian AEB systems. ✅ Future systems need to assess real-time sensor performance degradation, not just blockages. Tobias summarized: "In harsh weather, perception can be significantly improved by early fusion." Let's create systems that can safely see through adverse weather. #ADAS #SensorFusion #MagnaInnovation #ThermalImaging #Radar #TechADEurope

This is shaping the new world and the new technology, and the new mobility. Thermal sensors, also radar systems can leverage ADAS by far way, in the same ground I think they can also improve self-driving systems by adapting these systems to the compound of detection system. By combining radar, thermal, and regular vision we could be able to teach the computer how it can interpret 2D images obtained by frontal cameras in order to create complex reality-concept space in which the computer can make decisions
