Take a minute in nature. ⏰ Spending time in nature can help to relieve stress and anxiety, improving our mood and building a stronger sense of connection with our environment. 🌿💚 #MentalHealth is a crucial part of climate action. A recent study by the People’s Climate Vote found that 53% of people globally feel more worried than ever about climate change – with this figure rising to 71% for those living on the frontline of climate impacts across the nine Small Island Developing States. The good news is, many of the solutions to help our planet already exist, and the public call for change is louder than ever. Through storytelling, we can help to reshape the narrative of our planet’s future – shifting from prevailing climate anxiety towards inspiring hope and optimism that change is possible. 🎥 The Earthshot Prize, Netflix, SILVERBACK FILMS, Studio Silverback, Tsering's Fund

Scientific evidence is clear that #GhG from human activities are warming the Earth. That extra heat is changing our #climate in ways that threaten the existence of people, plants, and animals. Sadly, the transition away from fossil fuels isn’t happening fast enough. Climate change skepticism and denialism are a big part of the reason why. (Skepticism is when someone has doubts about climate change but is willing to consider new evidence. Denialists also reject climate change, but refuse to consider new evidence. Because it’s difficult to tell which category a person falls into, I tend to use these words interchangeably.) There’s lots of good #socialscience research on climate change denial and the initiatives to fight misinformation. But I didn’t just want to read about these issues. I wanted to experience them. This brief article, the first of a short series, unpacks what I have learned in a social experiment engaging with climate skeptics. It taught me a lot about #biases and #communication strategies. https://lnkd.in/gHdvQKEw

Anyone who has ever had a discussion with climate skeptics knows how challenging this can be. Knowing about their methodology and approach, which is always the same, helps in your own argumentation and serves as self-protection (as personal attacks are often made in these discussions). But facts alone will not make anyone change their behavior. Taking a closer look at why someone has a certain conviction or this or that feeling about an issue is essential in order to recognize the hidden emotional foundations such as fear or insecurity and to develop an understanding for each other. Finding the lowest common denominator, building trust and offering a constructive exchange - could help to break down the fronts! An very interesting article by Jury Gualandris in collaboration with Sourabh Jain gives insight into a social experiment with climate sceptics and the findings derived from it! #nbs #climatescience #climaterisk #sustainablity #decarbonisation #ivey #socialscience #climate

“Your net-zero building will burn down just as quickly as your non-net-zero one.” Someone had to say it—and thankfully, Tania Caceres, CRM, SCR did. While decarbonization and sustainability are crucial, we can’t afford to overlook the importance of climate resiliency. A big thank you to MaRS Discovery District’s Climate Impact Conference for shifting the conversation and highlighting the critical role of climate tech solutions for adaptation. Two days with incredible leaders, investors, and innovators, speaking honestly about what needs to happen today.
