The job fair is 1 week away, sign up today! This is not your ordinary job fair! • We will provide and set up your table and chairs. • We will provide coffee, water & lunch. • Please bring a tablecloth, any table decorations/marketing materials, and applications. • Wi-fi will be available, but please bring your own electronics and extension cords. About the culture at Better Together job fairs: • Culture of Celebration - We will celebrate every person and every opportunity which they find at the job fair. Make a big deal out of interviews, job offers, and other meaningful interactions. We also want to celebrate them and the employers! • Opportunity Bell - One of the most obvious ways we celebrate. If you extend an on-the-spot job offer, please come up to the bell with your new employee to ring it together so we can all stop, clap, cheer, and celebrate with you. • Job Coaches - Volunteers will be working with and encouraging job seekers throughout the day. If you are looking for something specific or not having a lot of luck, flag down a coach so they can be on the lookout for exactly what you need. Their job is to make matches and get job seekers ready to meet you, so help them do their jobs better by interacting with them. • What is your one more step? - We love it when people receive information about open positions and how to apply - that’s fantastic. But, we would love to challenge you to take one more step than you have taken before at job fairs and try interviewing on the spot, conducting screening steps before they’ve left the building, inviting job seekers for appointments or interviews at specific set times at your facility, or even offering on the spot jobs. Having an elevator pitch ready for our annual Bellevue College Networking & Job fair this Wednesday, May 8th, will ensure you maximize your time with each employer! 1. Start by introducing yourself. "Hello my name is _______, and I am a student at Bellevue College." 2. Next, provide your educational background. "I am currently studying _____," or "I have a degree in _____." 3. It is important that you are upfront with your objectives. "I am seeking a job or internship in ______." Include the position or industry that you are seeking. 4. Aside from your background, it is also important to provide employers with relevant skills and strengths. "I am skilled at_____." Remember to include skills that would be relevant to the position you are seeking. 5. Now, provide employers with the opportunity to tell YOU what they offer. "What opportunities are available?" Remember, this is just the foundation to build your elevator pitch. Calling all MN based Titans-in-waiting. Twice a year, we do these "job fairs", which is in quotes because it's not your typical job fair. - Our different Titan practice areas (engineering, marketing, PM, etc.) host huddles where they talk about what needs we might have, how we do the voodoo that we do, etc. - Friends of the firm who are also looking for resources join the cause and are doing the same - We welcome Titans-in-waiting of all stripes - varying levels of experience, and all roles. - And we do all this with some of the typical Irish Titan green glove experience. These have been great for us and for our friends. We've hired 6 different Titans from these events, and some of those hirings have happened well after the job fair. Which means that it's a great way for us to get to know each other and develop relationships, so that when the timing is mutually right, it's a smooth process. Kind of the whole "dig a well before you need the water" kind of thing.
