When I was a tower operator, the best I could ever get was 17 lifts in an hour. Most cranes take less than a minute to spin around start to stop. The drag is setting up the straps. Then again taking the straps off. I would say this is 3 minutes per cycle. Or averaging $25 per lift. This is your cost to use straps. Want to get that rigging cost to $2.77 per lift? Provide a hook in lifting point. Equipment managers are looking at their purchase costs. Today's real expense in equipment is in operations. If you can build a wood box for $200 and I can sell you a steel one for $1200, it would take just 45 lift cycles to be better off having the $1200 version. The good news is that it will last another 30 years and you won't have to rebuild it every two to three years. Let's take a look at your crane's operational drag. I bet we can speed up your entire project with this one switch.

[Engineering Analysis vs Real Life Execution during Floating Hose Hook-Up] In my previous post on floating hose dismantling, one of the most critical sequence was the floating hose hook-up. Ensuring safety, meant confirming slings were securely placed to prevent slipping, avoiding sharp angles that risk uneven load distribution, and verifying that the rigging setup matched our engineering plan. There’s no greater satisfaction than seeing engineering analysis and real-life execution aligned :)
