We are pleased to provide an update on the sale of certain tenements at the Nepean Nickel Project to Rocktivity Mining.   Following discussions, FBM has agreed to revise the deferred consideration to $1.04 million, which includes: ✅ $265,000 received on 18 June 2024 ✅ $773,656 due on or before 25 September 2024.   The revised deferred consideration is in addition to the $2.8 million in cash consideration previously received under the tenement sale agreement.   In addition, Rocktivity will: ✅ Grant FBM a 1% net smelter royalty on all minerals and metals produced from the Nepean Nickel Project ✅ Pay an additional $500,000 subject to the achievement of specific milestones.   Our Managing Director and CEO, Nick Rathjen, commented: "We are pleased to have reached a positive and sensible commercial compromise with Rocktivity. The outcome allows us to conclude the successful disposal of the Nepean asset, in what remains a particularly depressed nickel market environment. via MINING.com #Australian lithium #miner Pilbara Minerals Limited expects the planned Salinas lithium project in Brazil, which it is taking over through its acquisition of Latin Resources Limited, to become a low cost operation able to withstand low price cycles, CEO Dale Henderson said on Wednesday. #Pilbara said last month it would acquire smaller peer #LRS in an all-share deal for an implied value of A$559.9 million ($373 million). The deal is expected to close around the end of the year. Latin Resources had set out plans to start production at Salinas, in the south-eastern state of Minas Gerais, in 2026. Henderson said for the moment, those plans were not being adjusted, with Pilbara still focused on finishing the #acquisition. “Could there be changes? It’s possible, but right now that’s not the focus,” he told a press conference at a mining industry conference. 💰 MINING M&A: Rio Tinto to acquire Arcadium Lithium in US$6.7b Transaction This has been one of the worst kept secrets in the mining sector. Having said that, there has been a lot of pain in the lithium sector in CY2024 and a countercyclical investment (not dissimilar to the Pilbara Minerals Limited recent move on Latin Resources Limited) may, with the benefit of hindsight, prove to be impeccably timed. MY TAKE: - it was interesting to see RIO specifically reference "investing in innovation and next generation technology" (slide 7), through DLE, as a key mechanism for "enhancing lithium processing capabilities". - this morning Alpha HPA provided an update on the progress they are making through the production of HPA-ATH for third parties, to produce higher efficiency sorbents is also very encouraging, highlighting the scope for continued improvements in DLE technologies. - whilst there has been some recent debate about whether the Arcadium assets are "tier-1", what is less uncertain, is that this transaction instantly makes Rio a major player in lithium, after a few false starts. - unlike the valuation BHP was looking to pay for Anglo, this transaction appears more reasonable, although quite full, for where we are in the cycle. - further thoughts, coming soon 🤔 #lithium #energy #mining #brine #copper #acquisition #investment #dle #strategic #transition #mine
