Round pen work is very important for new / young horses but can also be used for finished horses. We round pen all our horses no matter level of training. It gets the thinking side of their brain going, get control of their feet, is great for pressure work, and builds on the respect and trust. Tank in the first video is a young 4yo OTTB who does well but still has some baby in him, as you can see from his head tossing. But in the end he yields to it. Apollo in the second video is a 12yo gelding, who is a great horse but under saddle is a little slow. So we are just working him to pick up his feet and speed some. And you should recognize Eagle Rare in the last video. He was the horse we laid down a few weeks ago. He gets better everyday with his respect and trust, and our bond is strong now. It’s been a long year for us together but it’s been worth it to see him turn into a great horses and leader of the herd. You’ll see all these horses on camp this year plus the rest of the herd!
