💡 Did you know? If you care about limiting big money in politics, then you’re already aligned with our constitutional solution. The For Our Freedom Amendment is the most urgent movement to amend the Constitution, empowering Congress and the states to set reasonable limits on campaign spending—bringing power back to the people. As our CEO, Jeff Clements, said, “A constitutional amendment is necessary because Americans never asked for elections controlled by an elite donor class with unlimited financial influence.” We’re building a cross-partisan movement to ensure that the voice of the people is heard—not drowned out by special interests. Trust in democracy is near an all-time low. However, an emerging network of pro-democracy activists argues that one way to save liberal democracy is to return to its roots: public participation in the democratic process. In our new monthly newsletter — in partnership with People Powered, and spearheaded by Lead Editor Pamela Bailey — we’ll write about participatory democracy from all angles; exploring models like participatory budgeting, citizens’ assemblies, and legislative theater that give everyday people a chance to decide the future of their communities.
