Private equity firm KKR is considering the sale of Viridor, a leading UK waste management company, in a deal that could value the firm at up to £7bn ($8.55bn), including debt. KKR acquired Viridor from Pennon Group Plc in 2020 for an enterprise value of £4.2bn. Since then, Viridor has expanded its operations, focusing on recycling and residual waste management across the UK. The potential sale reflects KKR's strategy to capitalize on the increased valuation of waste management assets, driven by growing environmental concerns and the push for sustainable waste solutions. Discussions are ongoing, and there is no certainty that a transaction will occur. #MergersAndAcquisitions #PrivateEquity #WasteManagement

NEXERGY: "We create oil from plastic waste. Fueling the future with green innovation." & "Plastic Into Oil? Yes. Recycling reinvented - plastic is now oil." Plastic is for fundamentally oil in the first instance, just made a bit stiffer, possibly with the addition of other chemicals such as chlorine. It's only going to be recycling if the oil produced is then turned back into plastic again, or possibly pumped back down the well it came out of🙃. However, that doesn't tie in with their claim of "fueling the future". There's nothing green about this process because the oil they're producing is fundamentally fossil oil. Two words for this claim, 'disengenuous greenwash' Better off just burning the pure plastic directly as fuel in an incinerator for heat and/or electricity generation, it would waste less energy.
