#southflorida - while plagued by traffic congestion, a "car-centric" culture, antiquated zoning, and a lack of walkability - the addition of a new public transportation system is welcoming. Effort, however, should be to enhance intra-county/city (east-west) mobility and not a purely linear system. Need a "comprehensive solution. This will take time... #sofloindustrialadviors #CRE https://lnkd.in/e8yHutzq?

Here's a map showing the #frequency of light rail services across #Buffalo city in the U.S. and its surroundings as of June 1910. The width of the lines on the map indicates the train #connection times of every: ➝ 7.5 minutes ➝ 15 minutes ➝ 30 minutes ➝ 1 hour The thicker the line, the more frequent the connection. It's worth mentioning that north-bound trains were operating every 7.5 minutes! 🕑 This indicates the impressive #growth of the region as an important #industrial hub at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition, there were three operational lines providing services for passengers at that time: 🟥 - International Railway 🟨 - Buffalo & Lake Erie 🟩 - Buffalo & Williamsville Map credits: fiftythreestudio _ _ _ 👍 Like if you find value, re-post ♻️, and follow for more interesting tech, and innovation insights.

It’s easy to see how cities benefit from passenger rail, but how do rural communities benefit? Turns out, there are many ways: - Economic growth: passenger rail brings visitors, supports local businesses, and can revitalize communities. - Better mobility: passenger rail connects you to essential services without a long drive. - Preservation: unique landscapes and natural beauty can be enjoyed while staying preserved. At RailNation: Tucson, we’ll discuss passenger rail’s benefits for Arizona and the entire country. We’ll also bring together advocates and build the platform to advance passenger rail. The world’s largest and busiest bus station, The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey’s Midtown Bus Terminal, is experiencing a flurry of holiday travelers this season. WSP is spearheading the design for the terminal’s replacement and expansion to meet future forecasted bus volumes. The project has reached major milestones with the signing of the Final Environmental Impact Statement and final and complete approval from the Federal Transit Administration and the city of New York to replace the aging terminal with a world-class facility. A new 2.1-million-square-foot main terminal, a dedicated storage and staging facility and direct ramp connections to the Lincoln Tunnel aim to enhance travel efficiency and safety for commuters and visitors, while also reducing bus congestion on surrounding streets. Check out this innovative mobility project proposal in Boston! I lived in Brighton (a neighborhood in Boston) for 5 years and was (like many other locals) annoyed with the poor public transportation and infrastructure throughout the city. It's definitely much better than most American cities, but it should be able to rival top European cities. Although I'd prefer a focus on (land) multi-modal mobility and reducing car-dependency, but for the short-term future, I think investing in a ferry commute system along the Charles will be the most feasible and have long lasting benefits for the community. 😀 What do you think? #urbanmobility #boston https://lnkd.in/e4fAQiB8
