Pear harvest in California to kick off mid-July The commencement of pear harvesting in California is anticipated in mid-July, starting with the earliest varieties. Despite challenges posed by the weather during the growing season, the industry maintains a positive outlook on the crop's potential. Chris Zanobini, executive director of the California Pear Advisory Board, has forecasted a decrease in production compared to the previous year, with Bartletts expected to see an 18% reduction and other varieties a 16% decline. "The late rains were the biggest factor" in affecting yields, Zanobini explained to Farm Press, attributing the extended bloom period to the spring showers. #grow🌱 #agriculture #supplychain #trade #usa🇺🇸 #markets #commodities #pears🍐 #california☀️ #yields #forecast #sanjoaquinvalley #decrease #exports

The word 'clubroot' is thrown around quite loosely. However, once you have it in a paddock, clubroot is very hard to get rid of so it needs to be taken seriously. Clubroot is a soil-born pathogen that forms 'clubs' on the roots of brassica plants, limiting their ability to absorb moisture and nutrients, which significantly limits yield potential. To mitigate getting clubroot, it's important to have a robust cropping rotation with a minimum of FIVE years between brassica crops. Swedes are used as a first-year crop only - we do not recommend cropping swedes in the same paddock twice. If you are second year cropping, consider using Pallaton Raphno® or kales, which are significantly more tolerant to clubroot.
In a world where farming grows ever more challenging, Pallaton Raphno© has been purpose-bred to thrive.
