🎭 Embracing the Masks We Wear 🎭 Yesterday, we had a magical Masquerade Christmas Party at Johnson Matthey. Everyone brought their masks, and for one evening, we got to transform into someone else entirely. It was such a wonderful night - phones forgotten, time flying, and the festive spirit shining through. 🎄✨ But here’s the thing: I wear a mask every day - and I love it. As a Talent Acquisition professional, every day is a chance to choose a new role, adapt to different situations, and embrace the variety. One day I’m a listener, the next a motivator, a negotiator, or a problem-solver. Each "mask" helps me grow and connect. A significant number of high school students graduate without a clear understanding of their post-graduation options. According to a 2022 survey by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), nearly 40% of high school seniors report feeling uncertain about their future career or educational path. In particular, many students are unaware of the full range of opportunities available to them beyond a traditional four-year college. A 2019 Gallup survey found that 45% of high school students had limited knowledge of apprenticeships, technical training programs, or other non-college career pathways. This lack of awareness contributes to increased anxiety and indecision, leaving students unprepared to make informed decisions about their futures. As a result, many students default to enrolling in college without fully understanding whether it aligns with their long-term goals or financial capabilities, highlighting the critical need for more comprehensive career exploration and guidance during high school. I can't wait to see more posts about Build Submarines "Built to Last" campaign and to have the opportunity to help raise awareness about the incredible opportunities in maritime manufacturing. It's time to debunk some outdated perceptions about the industry I work in at Granite State Manufacturing ; specifically building US Navy ships & submarines. Firstly, the belief that skilled trades and manufacturing jobs offer low pay is untrue. These positions offer competitive salaries and excellent benefits. Secondly, there's a misconception that there are limited career growth opportunities. In reality, the industry is full of pathways for advancement and professional development. And lastly, it's time to break the stereotype that these fields are predominantly male-dominated. Women are making significant strides and contributions in skilled trades and manufacturing every day. Let's change the narrative and highlight the rewarding and diverse opportunities in maritime manufacturing. #buildsubmarines #GSMManchester #GSMNashua
