Yet, this "Adventure of a Lifetime" comes with its own challenges. The scarcity of tickets can create an overwhelming demand, making "Every Teardrop a Waterfall" for those who might miss out. While limited seats can drive profits to "Higher Power," it can also lead to a "Paradise" for ticket scalpers and black market dealers, putting genuine fans at risk of exploitation. We need to ensure this doesn’t become a "Viva La Vida" moment for the wrong reasons, where the rush to attend the concert leads to inflated prices and unfair access. It's that day of the month again when supporting artists generates even more (real) revenue for them... At 08:00 UK-time the 40th Bandcamp Friday goes live. You'll still pay the same, but the platform itself takes no cut, waiving its revenue share. Bandcamp hosts independent (DIY) artists, as well as labels. I support Bandcamp. Founded in 2008, it's based on taking a revenue share of sales. Their share is 15% on digital items, and 10% on physical goods. Payment processor fees are separate and vary depending on the size of the transaction, but for an average size purchase, amount to an additional 4-7%. The remainder, usually 80-85%, goes directly to the artist or their label, and they pay out daily. Bandcamp Fridays began in March of 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, when the shuttering of venues led to a loss of vital tour revenue for artists.

Historically, ticket scalping in #India was synonymous with black marketing. Outside #cinema halls, vendors ran the “Dus-Ka-Bees” scheme, exploiting demand for blockbuster #films. Over time, the practice has evolved into a more sophisticated operation, migrating online.
