When I first started working in influencer marketing, I was taught that picking the right influencer was all about the numbers: › Is their follower count high enough? › Is their engagement rate above a certain percentage? › How many impressions did a post get? While metrics like these do matter to some extent, they’re not the whole story. There are other important factors to consider, such as: ✨ Do their values align with your brand? ✨ Is their content truly engaging and well-received by their community? ✨ Are they genuinely excited to collaborate with you? These are just a few of the questions that will actually make or break your campaign. When an influencer isn’t genuinely interested in your brand, it shows in their content and their audience can sense it, too. Despite what some so-called "experts" claim, influencer marketing is not going anywhere. Having spent a decade in the creator space, I've heard it said too many times that the influencer is on the way out. I saw yet another post yesterday claiming its demise. Instead of listening to these people, I suggest that brands: → Continue to invest in creator partnerships. → Build strategies that work for their goals. → Get clear on what success looks like based on these goals. Influencer is here to stay whether these nay-sayers like it or not. Why? It has proven to be an incredibly effective tool.
