As I gear up for my upcoming summer internship, I've got a whole mix of emotions swirling around. You know, the kind that makes your stomach do somersaults one minute and has you grinning from ear to ear the next. So, here's the thing—I'm pumped for this opportunity, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tad nervous too. I mean, who wouldn't be, right? The idea of potentially snagging a PPO (Pre-Placement Offer) is like having a golden ticket, but it also adds a bit of pressure to perform. But hey, I'm choosing to focus on the ride rather than the destination. Sure, landing a PPO would be incredible, but what really matters is the journey—the people I'll meet, the skills I'll learn, and the memories I'll make along the way. Picture this: me, walking into the office on the first day, feeling a mix of excitement and jitters, not quite sure what to expect but ready to dive in headfirst. I can't wait to tackle new challenges, learn from experienced mentors, and maybe even stumble a few times along the road to success. To all my fellow soon-to-be interns out there, let's make a pact to embrace every moment of this summer internship adventure. Whether we walk away with a PPO or not, we'll come out of this experience stronger, wiser, and with a bunch of stories to tell. Here's to the ups, the downs, and everything in between. "After careful consideration...we regret to inform you..." This is a quick reminder for anyone dealing with a lot of rejections while applying to Summers/Springs: 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥. 𝐈 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝟏𝟎𝟎+ 𝐫𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 myself applying for Spring Weeks and Summer Internships. Reading those emails sucks, especially when you've put effort into each one, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬. It’s easy to see others posting their offers and feel like you’re the only one not getting anywhere. But trust me, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬. People just don’t talk about the rejections as much. The best way to deal with it? 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝟓 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐚 "𝐧𝐨." Make a game out of it. Start counting the no's and a yes will come. I eventually got an offer. But it only came after all those no's, and at the time, I didn't know if I ever would. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠, even when it feels like you're getting nowhere. Hope this is a helpful reminder for anyone still waiting to hear good news. Stay at it.
