Executive Director, Professional Strategy at Bausch + Lomb

Did you know that if not properly disposed of, up to three billion contacts may end up in our wastewater treatment plants every year?   In the spirit of protecting our planet, I am proud to share the amazing work our Bausch + Lomb team is doing to reduce the impact disposable contact lenses have on the environment. This one-of-a-kind program, the only one in the US, helps properly recycle contact lens waste through TerraCycle. To date the program has collected 84,343,540 units, or 510,116 pounds, of used contact lenses, eye care and lens care materials in the U.S. - that’s greater than the weight of the Statue of Liberty!    But protecting the environment is only part of this amazing program. We also proudly support protecting vision, and through partnerships, can do exactly that; help protect vision across the globe…for every 10 pounds of materials collected, a $10 donation is made to Optometry Giving Sight—a global organization that supports the building of sustainable optometry worldwide    To all eye care providers, follow the steps below to start helping the planet and helping more patients, one contact lens at a time. #EarthDay2024 #Sustainability #EyeCare #EcoFriendly #Recycle #Optometry
