❗There's no way I could stress enough how important technician's work is during a conference!❗
Last week I worked at a conference where my colleague-technician was absent and it was a nightmare!
Yes, I can fix things here and there when needed (and it was pretty much needed) but that's not the point!
The point is that a technician is a professional who knows how to act preemptively and make things run smoothly!
It's what they do million times better than me.
Bottom line, knowing the ropes of the sound system is not my job!
Technician is there for a reason!

I find this a very important point for a successful outcome of any conference. Proper equipment and constant physical presence of at least one sound tehnician in the conference hall.
As a sound engineer specializing in live events, achieving quality is at the core of what I do. Just like in any industry, meeting customer expectations is key. Imagine being judged by all your customers at once – there's only one chance to get it right!
To ensure quality, I focus on tool selection, technical competency, and physical competency. From microphones to mixing consoles, each element plays a crucial role in delivering the perfect sound experience. It's about understanding, updating, and maintaining every component to create a seamless show.
Balancing this role with my work as an HSEQ consultant might seem like a lot, but being a sound engineer fuels me. It's a source of energy, pride, and personal growth that I bring to every project. Everything I learn in the world of sound engineering supports my commitment to you. Shine on!

Practical experience needs to show up. Start interviewing people in actual work envoronments. I'm not saying put them on a show, but walk them up to a rack like this and have them explain what everything is. Pick a random wire and ask them what would happen if they pulled it out, Engineer a scenario, ask them how they woudl troubleshoot it, let them shadow your actual live production. Give them access to test, and monitoring tools. See how they flow.. or don't flow. See it all for yourself. Don't just toss a warm butt into an empty seat because of a resume. Your client is paying you for better than that.

10,000 hours.
That’s the amount of time it takes to truly master a craft.
Audio, mixing, vision, mixing, technical production management.
The craft itself doesn’t matter. During a live event, you need someone who doesn’t hesitate.
You need someone who knows signal flow without even thinking about it.
You need someone who knows exactly which patch cable to check when a camera isn’t working.
You’re paying technicians for the hours, not the days they work on your event.
Experienced technicians can make or break an event.

Failure is an inevitable part of any career journey. Instead of seeing it as a setback, let's view it as an opportunity for growth and learning. Each mistake teaches us something valuable and brings us one step closer to success. ☝️
Recently I took responsibility for recording a live show and providing the client with the full concert coverage video. I hired 4 operators, assigned them precise shooting locations and roles. But !...
I didn't think about the audio recording, which is a crucial part of such a project 🤦
I thought my Zoom H6 audio recorder would be enough, and it indeed worked well, but I didn't record a proper multitrack waveform, therefore making the audio sound "live" instead of being able to get a professional audio mixing functionality. Therefore even though the picture was good enough, the whole thing looked bad because of the beginner-like sound (let's be honest, it really sucked!)
As a result, I had to make a discount for the final product so that the client is still kinda happy and that my reputation wouldn't drop heavily.
I learned a key lesson: ask more information before starting the project! In this case I should have thought about an audio technician who would handle the recording process, so that I take care of the video and production only. This would have increased the price of the project, but as a result would have been worth it!
Big lesson learned!
Have you ever experienced work failures and how did you overcome them?
