The Spooky Season is upon us. 👻💀🧙 Take a good look at this big group of pumpkins. 🎃 We doubt you'd have much use for these if we sent them all to you, right? But what if we swapped those pumpkins for people....?!🤔 Yeah, we can do that.👍🏻 We can send groups your way, that is. We can't turn pumpkins into people. Or vice versa. There is so much good in the world! This last week my wife was about 8 miles from home sitting in traffic on main st when her tire exploded. Frantically she called me freaking out and wondering what to do. I calmly explained that she could drive on the flat tire cause that would damage the rims. I asked her if she was safe land could pull over in safe place. She did. About 10 minutes later I pulled up to help change the tire. In the 35 minutes of changing the tire and putting on the spare, we had 8 different people offer to help, one of the people seeing we had children offered to buy McDonald’s for the family! The individual recognized that the situation was undercontrol as far as the tire was concerened but looked more deeply and the whole of the situation and was able to address an issue that could be brewing. I believe there is more good in the world than there is evil or bad! I believe people what to be good and want to help! I think people love to serve. I believe we are more willing to help than to hate! I couldn’t help draw parallels to my line of work. There are times when we see flat tires in our industry. In our industry this is easily noticed when you think of weeds in planter beds dandelions in the turf. Or overgrown plant material. Sometimes we show up right as the “flat is undercontrol” this could be some other companies property or our own. It is easy once the obvious issue “the flat” is under control to move along and search out the next “flat” I wonder how many McDonald’s moments there are that we are walking past. The “flat tire” is changed, or the property is back into a maintainable state. But we walk past the opportunity to offer a little deeper service. Now that the weeds are gone the bark mulch is really needing a too dress, would you like us to get you a guote for that to maximize and emphasize the beauty of your plant material? As you go about your day today, look for the opportunity to brighten someone’s day it might be helping someone with a flat tire. Or buying lunch for a stranger. It might be looking a little deeper at work and offering a little more and providing a little better product! We are all looking for daily improvements. US based LTL carriers will be closed for July 4th, with most of them reopening on Friday, July 5th. Expect limited capacity on Friday, as 1 day of PTO equals 4 days off! Things to prepare for - 🕜 Long wait times as shippers may pump out a lot of freight in a short amount of time, by condensing 5 shipping days into 3-4. Possible delays at the docks due to limited staff. 🤬 Theft, as trucks may be parked longer, over the 4-day weekend. 🔥 A VERY busy Monday, as the backlog from a potential 4-day weekend. 💡 Ship early and plan for delays in LTL. The reality of a small business at Christmas. One minute you are spending Saturday doing wholesome family tasks like decorating the tree... 🎄 ...the next you are firing up the laptop to track orders. 🫠 Late last week a road traffic accident affected delivery of our orders. This meant a mad dash to figure out: 💔 What was undeliverable ✅ What was retrieved ☹️ What customers were set to receive a melted box on Monday (!) At times like this it helps to be nimble and available to reassure our customers we are aware of the issue, and we have a plan. Mostly, that is all customers want to hear at that particular moment; that there is a plan. ✅ 8 customers contacted and every single one offering 10/10 responses, more concerned for the driver of the van than the delay of their order. It's a great reminder to allow time for unforeseen delays when you are shopping this Christmas - and that a small biz will bend over backwards to make sure your orders are fulfilled. This is a post about productivity and spring cleaning. Our yard has needed to be cleaned for a few weeks now, but I just haven’t gotten to it. So today I decided was the day to tackle it. - I took the 3 kids and went outside - Brought out the gear for yard clean up - Paused to help settle a debate among the kids - Had to push the little one on the swing - Delt with a dead animal - Comforted a crying kid - Paused for lunch for the kids - Fix a swing the kids broke in 60 seconds - Gave up after it started to unexpectedly rain - Called the landscaper and asked them to come tackle my yard My point is this…don’t try to optimize areas of life that aren’t within your control (including professionally). Focus on where you can be productive and delegate everything else. #sales #b2bsales #productivity
