With the responses I received in PM's on my last few posts about dampers, the topic of inerters has been introduced and since they are largely banned in motorsports it thought they would be a great topic for here. With some thought I would theorize a single inerter could be used to balance the vehicle front and rear to mitigate pitch oscillations from heave inputs then allowing the dampers to be tuned to decrease contact patch load variation. What are some of your theories on the optimization and tuning methods for inerters both off and on track? At what step do you tune the inerter? For people who have some experience any insight is also welcomed no matter how small!
When I was developing one for Lancaster E-Racing I went with a Matlab 1/4 car model to get a rough target and then would have produced a flywheel where additional masses (paired up to keep it balanced) can be used for final tuning on testing.

6moMandar Hazare could you summarise what you know into a single post? 🙂
