Excavation projects lay the groundwork—literally—for construction success. Before hiring a construction team for your excavation needs, here are three key considerations: 1- Experience Matters: Choose a team with a proven track record in excavation to handle unexpected challenges and ensure precision. 2-Site Assessment: The right team conducts thorough site evaluations to identify soil conditions, drainage needs, and potential obstacles. 3-Permits and Regulations: A professional team will handle permits and comply with local regulations to keep the project on track. #Excavation #Construction #ProjectManagement

Execution of the Excavation Work for an Administrative Building for the Housing and Utilities Projects Authority We are pleased to share the progress of our new project for constructing an administrative building for the Housing and Utilities Projects Authority. According to the geotechnical investigation report, the soil is classified as weak and requires special measures to ensure foundation stability. Steps Executed: 1. Excavation: Excavation work was carried out to a depth of 2.5 meters to reach suitable soil and prepare the site for subsequent steps. 2. Filling and Compaction: Backfilling was done in layers of appropriate thickness, using advanced compaction equipment to achieve a compaction rate of no less than 95% of the maximum dry density as per technical specifications. 3. Quality Testing: Compaction tests were conducted to ensure compliance with the required specifications and engineering standards. We remain committed to the highest standards of quality and safety in executing this project, ensuring maximum security and sustainability. #ProjectManagement #CivilEngineering #Construction #SoilTesting #QualityControl

🚧 First Step on a Construction Site: Setting the Foundation for Success 🏗️ The initial phase of any construction project is critical for its long-term success. Site preparation is the first and most important step, and it lays the groundwork for the entire project. This includes: 1️⃣ Site Surveying: Ensuring accurate measurements and topography, identifying land boundaries, and marking key features. 2️⃣ Clearing and Excavation: Removing unwanted vegetation, debris, and excavating the ground for foundations. 3️⃣ Soil Testing: Conducting geotechnical tests to assess the soil's strength and suitability for the planned structure. 4️⃣ Establishing Utilities: Setting up temporary water, electricity, and access roads to ensure smooth site operations. A solid start is essential to avoid costly delays and ensure that the structure is built on stable ground. Let’s remember, successful projects begin with thorough planning and proper site preparation! 🛠️ #Construction #Engineering #SitePreparation #ProjectManagement #BuildingFoundations

Oftentimes when people think about survey support services in connection with construction, they think of staking or layout, but there are other forms of construction surveying. Mark Thomas has a long history of providing monitoring during construction to ensure that structures or other nearby infrastructure don’t move during excavation. We recently provided campaign monitoring services for a bulkhead wall holding back the San Francisco Bay from a site under soil stabilization. In addition to soil stabilization, soil remediation was also required. Our team provided reflectors to mount on the bulkhead wall so that they could be observed remotely without having to get survey crews within the area of remediation. As the contractor performed the stabilization work of injecting grout into the ground, the project team requested near real-time monitoring to make sure they were protecting the bulkhead wall while grout injection was taking place. Our team utilized an automated monitoring system consisting of a total station mounted on a building well outside the area of construction, a modem link, and specialized software to remotely control the instrument. Several monitoring points outside the area of construction were also observed as checks in addition to the ones mounted on the bulkhead wall. During the peak of construction, the automated total station would measure the reflectors on the bulkhead wall every 20 to 30 minutes and report the readings to the office. This allowed the contractor to monitor the movement of the bulkhead wall during these peak construction hours and prevent movement that could have meant catastrophe to the project and environmental disruption in the Bay. In the end, the contractor was very satisfied with the frequency and automation of the system. #CampaignMonitoring #WeAreMarkThomas
