If you have been to Boise, Idaho there is a chance you have seen the Simplot Headquarters. It’s more than just an office- it’s where our history is honored, and innovation begins! Here are some fun facts about the place we call home! -The building contains over 625 miles of wire, enough to stretch from our location to Portland, OR, and then to Seattle, WA. It also features 16,800 yards of concrete, equivalent to approximately 45 miles of standard city sidewalk. The heaviest beam used in construction weighs 18,500 lbs, comparable to a full-size 18-wheel truck! -Wooden tables throughout the building are made from reclaimed tongue and groove boards from our potato processing plant in Caldwell, Idaho. Additionally, stone used on interior walls is sourced from Idaho, including some from Table Rock locally in Boise. These touches help honor the storied history of Simplot! -The window shades automatically adjust according to the sun's position, and light sensors throughout the building ensure a consistent 35 lumens of light. Thanks to natural light, sensors, and LED lighting, the building consumes about 35% less energy compared to traditional office spaces with lower ceilings and fewer windows.
