IWA UK YWP - Young Water Professionals UK’s Post

It was a pleasure to attend the IWA UK YWP - Young Water Professionals UK 25th Annual Conference last week as a committee member.   The hard work of our committee over the past year culminated in an exceptional few days of inspirational talks and discussions with young water professionals from all across the sector. Additionally, the chance to hear from and meet many leaders who have had amazing careers within the water industry was an invaluable experience. Our site visit on the final day, to Mayfield Park in Manchester, showed how excellent design and thought can produce beautiful places for people while improving water quality and reducing flood risk. I am passionate about working to create better places for people and nature, and my time at the IWA UK YWP conference gave me so much inspiration to continue with this work.   I would recommend the experience of attending the conference or being on the committee to any young professionals who work within any part of the water sector. It’s an eye-opening opportunity to gain fresh perspectives, learn about cutting-edge innovations, and build lasting connections. I’ve returned with newfound knowledge and a network of inspiring friends as well as a renewed purpose to help work towards a better water future. So many of the challenges we are facing in the world, such as flooding, biodiversity loss, droughts, inequality, and polluted water courses are connected to water. It is only by working together across the sector that we can begin to tackle them successfully.   Thanks Arup for giving me the opportunity to have this experience.
