Here's a quick insight into the jacket I’m working on for you because I hear you’re about to toss ‘em all out but the one or two you have to keep for meetings persist in being uncomfortable and unflattering and covid hasn’t changed that fact. I designed this in 2016, and it never leaves my cutting table and barely leaves the back of many women who have a Summer and Winter version for uniform dressing that looks—they way they want it to look. Inspired by the classic Chanel jacket of the1950s, this piece is unlike any traditional jacket. No collars or padded shoulders here. It's a tailored cut designed by a woman for women. Key features include:- Deep box pleats in the back and side fronts (coming down from the neckline) for optimal movement. Clean flattering high neckline that requires no farting around with collared shirts, creates a strong line through the body, especially cool over a dress. No plastic linings—who needs the insulation?! But every woman needs crepe cloth! If you’re ever faced with just one weave to take to a desert island, make it crepe. Enjoy the slippery stuff and real silk on the lower half where it makes this jacket skim over your hips (and feel rather sensual). Subtle colour blocking, contrasting lustre, textures and detailing guide the eye upward, enhancing your silhouette. In both summer and winter versions, this jacket adapts to your curves, making it a staple regardless of body fluctuations. Illustrating fabrics with lot of highlights ( light reflections ) is one of the toughest task I always feel. But if you once crack the technique of applying enough amount of light / whites and blending it well with shadows and fabric colour ,the level of satisfaction you recive when you look at the completed illustration is 100 percent. TERRIBLE CHOICES The garment on the left is a terrible example of tie shirt jacket and pocket square matching.  The first thing is never never never wear a button down shirt with a suit.  The second is that the prominent colour in the tie is cranberry and there is none of that colour anywhere to to found in either the jacket or shirt. The fabric pattern in the shirt is too dressy for the casual pattern of the jacket.  The pocket square might have well been chosen out of thin air because it has no colour in it to compliment any of the pieces. GREAT CHOICES The collar on the shirt is perfect as it lays down straight and tucks neatly away under the jacket lapel. The combination of blue, olive, rust is picked up in each piece being worn. The textures also compliment each other. Poorly chosen colour, texture and style in clothing pieces (even if they fit and are styled well) will always make poor impression.

Polka dots are back (or did they ever really go away)? There's always a place in your wardrobe for this little print so NEVER get rid of it. From the classic ‘Pretty Woman‘ brown and white dress to big, bold, black and white and everything in between, there's a polka dot for everyone. Choose your best colour, particularly for the background and remember that contrast plays a huge part. If you have a strong look, you can wear contrasting colours but if you have a blended look, try more tonal colours. Be mindful of the size of the spot…think about your frame. Smaller, neat spots work well on small frames whilst larger dots are better on larger frames. There are already some lovely 'dotty' clothes around but as always, shop your wardrobe first. And, if you do find the perfect polka dot garment, hold on to it!
