🌍 Did you know 117 million hectares of Europe’s land are ready for rewilding? 🦅 That’s right—a quarter of the continent is primed for an environmental comeback! 🐾 But which regions are in focus? 🌱 You might be surprised! Some of the coldest parts of Europe are leading the charge, including Scandinavia and Scotland, with exciting potential for biodiversity revival. What’s the difference between passive and active rewilding? 🤔 One is all about letting nature do the work, while the other reintroduces key species to help balance the ecosystem. 🐺🦌 And what’s the real impact on Europe’s biodiversity by 2030? 🌿 The opportunity to turn depopulated rural areas into thriving natural reserves is on the table. Could this be a game-changer for conservation? Want more? Tap the link to get the full breakdown on what’s happening! 📰🌍 https://lnkd.in/dRfwF4ht #RewildingEurope #EnvironmentalRestoration #Biodiversity #ConservationGoals #NatureRecovery Follow us Karmactive

📈 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴. 🦉 New in our range for nature restoration projects in Belgium: biodiversity monitoring. 👉 This service is crucial for us, as it establishes a better biodiversity-focused management in our main forest programs in Belgium, while maintaining multifunctionality. Designed for reforestation, afforestation, and assisted natural regeneration (ANR) projects starting from 3 hectares, this initiative assesses biodiversity through an innovative methodology that tracks all vegetation layers such as trees, shrubs, bushes, grasses, and moss. The main features of our biodiversity monitoring: -Customized and in-depth monitoring (baseline + following years) -Five-year assessment -Careful documentation of tree species diversity and wildlife observations -Project-specific adaptations -Precise GPS documentation -Regular updates via your company impact dashboard 🌱 Through detailed steps and measurements, we deliver a promise not only to assess the biological diversity of our forest projects, but also to support sustainable development through adaptable, data-driven insights, provided by our team of field experts. 💚 It is important to know the CO2 data of your forests, but data on the increase in biodiversity is also immensely valuable. 📧 Feel free to contact us to learn more about how our biodiversity monitoring service can benefit your project and sustainability reporting (info@goforest.be). #BiodiversityMonitoring #NatureRestoration

New Post: Restoring Ecosystems: Should We Aim for 10, 100, or 1,000 Years Ago? -Restoring ecosystems isn’t just about looking back—it’s about planning for a resilient future. Should we aim to recreate what existed 10, 100, or even 1,000 years ago? At the European Wilderness Society, we believe in blending the past with present needs to ensure ecosystems are not only restored but are strong enough to thrive in the face of modern challenges. Through projects like BEECH POWER and LIFEstockProtect, we’re working to restore Europe’s wild landscapes while balancing biodiversity conservation with community engagement. - https://lnkd.in/dRBQSbwy

I recently had the opportunity to discuss rewilding and the critical role it plays in restoring ecosystems and biodiversity in my interview with Nautilus Magazine. From my personal experiences in the Mediterranean to success stories like the resurgence of the Atlantic bluefin tuna, this interview dives into the urgent need for rewilding and stronger conservation efforts. Rewilding is about more than reintroducing species, it's about rebuilding our connection with nature, creating corridors of biodiversity, and recognizing that we are all part of the same ecosystem.🌍 🔗 Check out the full interview in Nautilus and learn how we can protect and restore biodiversity for future generations: https://lnkd.in/e4Q-8Y27 Dona Bertarelli Philanthropy #FondationBertarelli #rewilding #biodiversity #conservation #ecosystems #nature #sustainability #environment #protectwhatyoulove

🌊 Diving into the deep blue wonders of biodiversity! Did you know that a new framework has been developed to assess marine biodiversity in U.S. waters from the coast to the Exclusive Economic Zone? 🐠🦈 Let's explore the key insights from the article "New Framework to Assess Marine Biodiversity in U.S. Waters" by experts in marine science and conservation. Here's a glimpse: 🔍 Why Assess Biodiversity Nationally? Marine biodiversity fuels ecosystem health, providing vital services like shoreline protection and carbon sequestration. Yet, threats like climate change and human activities jeopardize this invaluable resource. 🌏 Protecting Marine Life: Discover how the U.S. aims to safeguard 30% of coastal and marine waters by 2030. It's more than designating marine protected areas; it's about creating a network that enhances connectivity and ecosystem sustainability. 🧐 Key Learnings: Uncover the challenges in U.S. marine protected areas, the importance of balance in network criteria, and the critical role of data in assessing biodiversity accurately. 🌿 Climate Resilience and Biodiversity: Imagine biodiversity as a diverse garden; just planting flowers won't make it flourish. It's about cultivating a network of supportive habitats that thrive together. 🌺🌿 🔗 Linking Policy with Science: See how the framework bridges policy mandates with scientific data to drive effective marine conservation strategies. It's a harmonious blend of research and real-world impact. Let's dive deeper into the ocean of knowledge and discuss how we can better protect and conserve marine biodiversity for future generations! 🌊🐢🌎 https://lnkd.in/gC97jWyT

Five Key Questions to Assess Biodiversity in Carbon Projects: We ensure every project is thoroughly validated and verified with rigorous methodologies and site visits. Through our Nature Analytics Framework, we offer transparent insights backed by data to help you invest in high-impact carbon credits with confidence. When evaluating carbon projects, asking the right questions is crucial to ensure biodiversity is truly being protected and enhanced. Here are the essential questions to guide your assessment: 1. How diverse is the ecosystem being restored? Is the project using a wide variety of native species for restoration, or is it focused on monocultures? Does it aim to create a balanced, resilient ecosystem with multiple species? 2. Is biodiversity being both protected and enhanced? How does the project ensure it safeguards existing ecosystems, preventing any negative impact on local biodiversity? What specific measures are being taken to enhance biodiversity, such as reintroducing native species or improving habitat quality? 3. Are there any invasive or harmful species present? Is the project ensuring the exclusion of species that could negatively affect the local ecosystem? 4. Are endangered species’ habitats being protected and conserved? Does the project actively protect habitats that are critical for endangered or vulnerable species? Does the project increase habitats for these species, e.g. through biodiversity corridors? 5. Is the project located in a biodiversity hotspot? Is the project situated in a region recognized for its rich biodiversity, and how does it contribute to preserving that unique environment? By asking these questions, you can identify high-quality biodiversity projects that not only mitigate carbon but also protect and restore our planet's ecosystems. 🌿 Read about one of our Biodiversity Champion projects: https://lnkd.in/dhuPjb6M #sustainability #carboncredit #naturebasedsolution #biodiversity #goodcarbon
