Innovate UK’s Post

The Innovation Accelerator Programme is driving innovation and R&D in Greater Manchester through co-creation and government investment. The programme led by Innovate UK on behalf of @UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), has injected £100 million from April 2023 into 26 R&D projects across Glasgow City Region, Greater Manchester, and the West Midlands and has been extended by £30m for 2025/26. Manchester has pioneered advancements in advanced materials and manufacturing, digital technology, health innovation, and carbon-neutral technologies, aligning with its ambitious 2038 carbon-neutral goal. The programme has already supported more than 500 businesses in Greater Manchester to take forward innovations, while over 1,000 residents have accessed skills support—either to upskill or begin their journey to a career in a high-growth sector.
