Good morning. My name is Marty Tankleff. I'm currently Special Counsel to Barquette Epstein Carnal Van Lettercol. I am also the Peter Primon Distinguished Visiting Professor at Georgetown University and Adjunct Professor of Law. However, for almost. 20 years 6338 days. I was 90 T 3844 I was wrongfully imprisoned in New York State for crimes I had nothing to do with. Part of my conviction was caused because their brain violations. If the discovery laws that are in place as they exist today were in place in 1988, there's a high likelihood in a high probability that it wouldn't have been convicted and served 6338 days. It's tragic to hear that the politicians and people in power or even considering rolling back the discovery laws as they exist today. We have to stop this because we know that innocent people are wrongfully convicted on a regular basis. As I'm filming this video, I'm sitting in Seattle at the Innocence Network conference where hundreds of men and women having wrongfully convicted of crimes that had nothing to do with. If there's anything that we can do and that to stop the rollback of the discovery laws, we must do that now. This isn't simply about legislation. This isn't simply about passing a law. This is about people's lives. We have to protect those that are accused of crimes because so many are innocent of the crimes that they were charged with. We know in New York State that there's been hundreds of innocent men and women who have been wrongfully convicted of crimes they didn't commit. And one of the ways we can protect those is to not ensure the discovery laws are repealed, aren't rollback. We should actually be. We should actually try to enhance the discovery laws. We should employ more discovery because there's only one way we can protect those rights of the individuals that have been accused of crimes. And that isn't fair and. Open discovery policy and process. I'd be open to be willing to meet with you, and I hope that you take every step possible so you don't roll back the discovery laws. Thank you. Bye.
