The VInnovate funding mechanism – Effectively meeting needs of innovators and ecosystems! The Vanguard Initiative successfully closed its first “VInnovate Call” (an interregional grant scheme supporting international innovation projects). Here are some key takeaways: - The 2024 call has generated great interest among regional business innovators; willing to cooperate internationally, at “high TRLs” (TRL5 and beyond), in order to develop tomorrow’s clean technologies and products. - VInnovate effectively enables regions to work together in a joint Smart Specialisation Strategy S3-driven approach while taking financial cooperation to a new level. - Being integrated with the thematic pilot activities of Vanguard Initiative, this instrument offers an integrated innovation support to stakeholders, beyond funding only, and prior/post-project duration. - VInnovate aims to scale up in 2025 and beyond by making its regionally- driven contribution to overcome the fragmentation of EU innovation ecosystems and to enable further concentration of financial support in targeted S3-based strategic priorities.
