🇪🇺🇯🇵 Dawex was delighted to speak at the #EUJapanDigitalWeek in Tokyo this April during 2 days fully dedicated to #DataSpaces, on the theme “Data Spaces – or the Story How to Make Business from Data in a Legal Fashion”. The event offered an extremely rich agenda, delivering a 360-degree perspective on the role of data spaces in the digital & circular economy, and showcasing real-life implementations in both Japan and Europe. Discussions focused on #interoperability, #trust and #valuecreation. During a session on the Regulatory Landscape for #DFFT Data Free Flow with Trust, Didier Navez, SVP Data Strategy & Governance at Dawex, spoke about the #EuropeanDataAct, reminding the audience of its imminent application on Sept. 12, 2025. He urged connected products manufacturers to prepare for #compliance, regardless of their company's headquarters location, and to leverage #DataExchange solutions to manage incoming requests, on demand, at scale. 💡 There were too many great presentations to mention them all, but here are some highlights: - Nuria De Lama, Consulting Director IDC4EU, IDC, shared insights from a recent survey on data spaces in #SmartCities. She emphasized the need for clear value proposition for all stakeholders, and reminded that business models are not one-size-fits-all and evolve over time - Prof. Noboru Koshizuka, The University of Tokyo, shared insights on data space initiatives in Japan, DATA-EX, & explored the #integration of data spaces with #AI technologies. - Franziska Zibold, Policy Analyst, DG GROW, European Commission, presented the EU Digital Product Passport (#DPP) Legal Framework, underlining its role in enhancing transparency, promoting the circular economy, and enabling informed consumer choices. - Dónal O'Regan, Strategic Policy & EU Project Manager, Fujitsu, highlighted real-life DPP deployments under #CIRPASS-2, aligned with the ESPR regulation and industry needs. - Yuki Nobekawa, COO of JDEX-Japan Data Exchange, operator of Japan’s first #DataMarketplace -providing trusted data exchange services to more than 300 companies, shared valuable practical experience in incentivizing participation in data spaces. Ending the 2 days, workshop participants discussed potential EU-Japan joint projects, including a concrete data exchange use case for Sustainable Textile Ecosystem, during a group session led by Alessandro Canepa - R&D Manager, Fratelli Piacenza S.p.A.
