We had a strong turnout of local business and government leaders today for the "Hydrogen in Action" event at our Owen Sound facility. The day included panel discussions on the steps needed to accelerate the hydrogen economy in Owen Sound, Ontario and across Canada. Participants raised the need for all levels of government and the private sector to clear roadblocks and strengthen support for the sector, and to build public awareness of clean hydrogen’s benefits. Highlights included a panel session with Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Rick Byers and Diane Austin, CEO of the Owen Sound & District Chamber of Commerce. The panel was moderated by Alexa Young, VP Government and Public Affairs, New Economy Canada, which organized the event in association with the Canadian Hydrogen Association (CHA) and Hydrogen Optimized. The day also included tours of our manufacturing facility and introductory remarks from Denis Krude, President & CEO Hydrogen Optimized. "The opportunity is enormous," Denis Krude told participants in his opening remarks. According to the Global Hydrogen Review 2024, issued recently by the International Energy Agency (IEA), strong growth in low-emission hydrogen production has been driven mainly by water electrolysis projects, with announced electrolysis capacity totaling almost 375 GW. We wish New Economy Canada well on the next stops on its “Getting Things Built” cross-Canada tour.
